Remembering Rwanda: Honouring Lives Lost

⚠️ Content Warning: This video contains graphic and disturbing images that may be distressing to viewers.

Today, we remember with deep sorrow the innocent lives lost during the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Our hearts grieve for the men, women, and children whose lives were taken in such unimaginable pain. Their memory lives on, and their silence speaks louder than words ever could.

To Africa and all its peoplethis is a call for unity, for healing, and for a future built on love, dignity, and shared humanity. No more blood, no more division, no more hatred. Let us stand together and say:

Never Again.

Today, We stand in quiet reflection with the people of Rwanda as the world remembers the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi a tragedy that claimed more than one million innocent lives in just one hundred days.

This was not just a moment in history; it was a painful reminder of what happens when hatred is allowed to grow unchecked, when division replaces humanity, and when the warning signs are ignored. The loss of so many women, men, and children is something the world can never fully comprehend, but it is something we must never forget.

To the people of Rwanda, your strength, resilience, and journey toward healing and unity continue to inspire the world. Out of unimaginable pain, you have chosen rebuilding over revenge, unity over division, and hope over despair. That is a powerful testimony of what humanity can become, even after its darkest moments.

Today, we do more than remember we reflect, we learn, and we commit. We commit to standing against hate in all its forms, to speaking up when it matters, and to protecting the dignity of every human life.

Never Again is not just a phrase it is a responsibility we all carry.

We often think love is something we feel, something that just happens inside us. But what if it’s more than that? What if love is shown, not just felt? Love is the moment someone chooses to share what they could have kept for themselves their time, their honesty, their vulnerability, their care. It’s in the small, intentional acts where a person gives a part of themselves, not because they have to, but because they want to. Real love is not just emotion; it’s expression. It’s the decision to open up, to give, and to show up even when it’s not easy.

Rwanda is procuring 290 transformers as part of a nationwide effort to reduce blackouts and improve electricity supply.

The project will also expand medium- and low-voltage power lines across the country, strengthening electricity distribution in high-demand areas.

This comes as Rwanda continues to upgrade its energy infrastructure to support growing demand from households, businesses, and industry.

Following Ghana in 2025, Rwanda has also signed an MoU with Kenya allowing licensed digital payment firms to operate across both countries without seeking new regulatory approval. This means fintechs from Ghana and Kenya will soon be able to expand into Rwanda, while Rwandan fintechs will be able to operate in Kenya and Ghana under the same licence-passporting framework, easing cross-border growth in East Africa.
