Panos Eastern Africa seeks to address the information needs of the poor and marginalised, create media visibility of their concerns and inform policy through:
- Building the capacities of the media and civil society to communicate more meaningfully issues of development and engagement with information and bolstering engagement with the affected communities.
- Using strategic communication for
civil society, ensuring that they use an evidence base in debating critical issues.
- Researching, documenting and communicating.
- Illuminating the voices and issues that are usually left out by the media and thus do not get into the limelight. Marginalised issues and people.
- Supporting and promoting initiatives aimed at ensuring a conducive free and fair environment that allows for free debate, plurality of opinions and ideas, accountability, and good governance and responsible journalism.
- Promoting awareness about the implications of global decisions on marginalised people and creating space for them to engage those processes
