SHIFAT SEARCHING FOR SPONSORSHIP
She is 14 years old and stays with her Aunt in the Katangaa slum.

Her father commited su***de after burning her mother with acid. The incident left her in a condition where she could no longer manage to support Shifat and she was moved to the village away from the city.

Shifat now stays with her Aunt who works as a cleaner and cannot afford to pay for her school fees in addition to providing other basic necessities.

She is looking for a sponsor family, a company or an individual to support her attain good and stable education for a brighter future.

We are so happy to see our children excited and smiling as they receive new textbooks designed for the new curriculum!

These valuable books have been donated by our Founder, Kim Madsen, to support our children in their education and learning journey.

The children are excited to read, learn, and explore new knowledge. These textbooks will give them a wonderful opportunity to research, study independently, improve their understanding, and develop a stronger love for reading and learning.

Katanga Slum is a place where many people would rather not go. The deep trenches, poor sanitation, crowded homes and difficult living conditions can make it easy to look away.

But behind these trenches are families. Behind the difficult conditions are children with dreams, parents working hard to survive, and communities with hope for a better future.

At Help Africa, we believe that every child deserves an opportunity to grow, learn and dream, regardless of where they come from. We continue to work alongside families in Katanga, supporting children and empowering households to build more secure and sustainable futures.

Fellisha Nanyonjo is just 17 years old and the eldest of 7 children. Despite carrying responsibilities beyond her age, she continues to dream of a better future.

Earlier this year, her sponsorship ended, and with it, her chance to stay in school.

As the new term approaches ,Fellisha is at risk of being left behind not because she doesn’t want to learn, but because she simply doesn’t have the support.

In the heart of Katanga Slum, one of our Help Africa parents works hard every day preparing and selling snacks to provide for her children. Her small business may seem simple, but every sale helps put food on the table, meet school needs, and build a better future for her family.

At Help Africa, we believe that supporting a child also means empowering the family behind that child. Through our household empowerment program, we help parents create sustainable sources of income to be able to provide for other necessities.

Her business may be small, but her dream for her children is BIG.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: LWANGA AARON

Sometimes, all a young person needs is an opportunity to show what they can do.

Meet Lwanga Aaron, a second-year student at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) pursuing a Diploma in Accounting and Finance.
Aaron recently completed his internship at Karat Finance, where he demonstrated hard work, commitment, and a willingness to learn. We are proud to share that he performed so well that Karat Finance is planning to retain him!

This is more than an internship success—it is a reminder of what happens when young people are given the opportunity to learn, grow, and build their future.

Paris from Spain spent a wonderful time with the children, teaching them how to use tablets while making learning fun through exciting games!

Through play, the children discovered new skills, explored technology, and enjoyed learning together. Moments like these remind us that learning doesn’t have to be boring it can be fun, interactive, and full of smiles!
