Subject: A Call to Join Hands in Supporting, Honouring and Celebrating Our Busoga Hero, Mr. Arthur Musulube

Dear Members, Friends, and Well-wishers of Busoga Transformation Association,

Greetings to you all.

Busoga Transformation Association warmly calls upon all sons and daughters of Busoga, friends of our culture, and all people who value education, music, and heritage to join hands in showing love, appreciation, and support to our respected Busoga icon, Mr. Arthur Musulube — a renowned musician, composer, educationist, and a great custodian of Busoga’s cultural identity.

Mr. Arthur Musulube is not just a musician; he is a symbol of creativity, wisdom, and dedication. Through his gift of music, he has touched countless lives, using melodies as a bridge to unite people, educate generations, and preserve the beautiful identity of Busoga.

His contribution to the Kingdom of Busoga and Uganda at large will forever remain a great chapter in our history. Among his most recognised works is the Busoga Kingdom Anthem — “Tuli Bankabi Inhyo, Ye Nga Twesimye Inhyo”, a powerful composition that has inspired pride, unity, and love among the Basoga people. The anthem became a voice of identity, reminding every son and daughter of Busoga of the importance of honouring their roots and heritage.

He also contributed to the Uganda National Schools’ Anthem — “We Young Women and Men of Uganda,” a patriotic song that has inspired generations of learners across Uganda to value education, discipline, unity, and service to their nation.

His creativity also gave birth to the Busoga University Anthem and many other educational and cultural compositions that have shaped the minds and character of young people. His school songs became more than just melodies; they became memories, traditions, and voices that carried messages of hard work, respect, responsibility, patriotism, and the love of learning.

For many students who grew up singing his compositions, his music became part of their journey — a reminder of their schools, their values, and their connection to Busoga and Uganda.

Through his remarkable work, Mr. Arthur Musulube carried the voice of Busoga beyond its borders and demonstrated that music can preserve culture, strengthen unity, and inspire future generations. His contribution has helped keep alive our language, traditions, and values.

As Busoga Transformation Association, we believe that our heroes deserve appreciation, respect, and support while they are still with us. This is a moment for us to stand together, show compassion, and recognise a man whose talent has served the Kingdom of Busoga and the entire nation of Uganda.

We therefore invite all members, friends, and well-wishers to join hands as we continue following his health situation and offering any support possible. Let us show Mr. Arthur Musulube that the people he inspired through his music have not forgotten him.

Honouring our heroes should not only happen after their journey; true honour is giving them love, recognition, and appreciation while they can still feel the gratitude of the people they served.

Together, let us preserve our heritage, celebrate our legends, and inspire generations to come.

A Detailed Biography of the Second Kyabazinga of Busoga (1911–1976)
Introduction
Sir William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope II was one of the greatest leaders in the history of Busoga and Uganda. He was the second Kyabazinga (Isebantu Kyabazinga) of Busoga Kingdom, a respected traditional ruler, a nationalist, and later became Uganda's first Vice President after independence in 1962. His life bridged the traditional leadership of Busoga and the modern political development of Uganda.

Early Life
William Nadiope was born into the royal family of Bugabula in 1911. His father, Yosiya Nadiope, was one of Busoga's most influential chiefs. When his father died in 1913, the young William inherited the Bugabula chieftainship while still a child, ruling through regents until he came of age. His mother came from the famous family of Sir Apollo Kaggwa, giving him strong royal connections in both Busoga and Buganda.

Education
Nadiope received formal education in Uganda and later in Britain. His education exposed him to modern governance and leadership while preserving his commitment to Busoga's traditions. His experience abroad helped shape his vision for education, modernization, and development.

Becoming Kyabazinga
The office of Kyabazinga was created to unite the hereditary rulers of Busoga.
After Kyabazinga Ezekiel Tenywa Wako, the first Kyabazinga, retired in 1949, the Busoga chiefs elected William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope II as the second Kyabazinga of Busoga.
First Reign
1949–1955
He strengthened unity among the chiefdoms, promoted education, agriculture, and better administration throughout Busoga.

Military Service
During the Second World War, Nadiope served in the King's African Rifles (KAR) under British colonial rule. His military service broadened his leadership experience and contributed to his later political career.

Political Career
As Uganda moved toward independence, Nadiope became one of the country's leading political figures.
He:
Helped build national unity.
Became a senior leader in the Uganda People's Congress (UPC).
Worked closely with Prime Minister Milton Obote.
Represented Busoga in national politics.

Uganda's First Vice President
When Uganda gained independence on 9 October 1962, Sir William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope II became the first Vice President of Uganda.
He worked to:
Promote national unity.
Support the new government.
Strengthen relationships among Uganda's kingdoms and regions.
Encourage economic and educational development.

Second Reign as Kyabazinga
Nadiope returned as Kyabazinga for a second term:
1962–1966

Sir William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope II died in 1976. He is remembered as one of the most distinguished sons of Busoga and one of Uganda's founding national leaders.

A CALL TO HONOUR A DAUGHTER OF BUSOGA
Today, we pause to appreciate Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga for her years of dedicated service to the people of Busoga, the women of Uganda, the youth, and our beloved nation.
Her leadership has inspired many, opened doors for women in leadership, given hope to young people, and ensured that the voice of Busoga has been heard on the national stage. Her commitment and resilience have made her one of the most recognizable daughters of Busoga.
As Busoga Transformation Association, we respectfully appeal to the people of Busoga, our cultural leaders, the business community, the youth, women, and all friends of Busoga to unite behind a vision of establishing a monument in honour of Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.
We envision a landmark positioned along the main route into Busoga—from the Buganda side toward the Busia border—not only as a tribute to her public service, but also as a symbol of Busoga's pride, leadership, resilience, and history. Such a monument could become a point of cultural identity and a place that attracts visitors to learn about the region and its contributions to Uganda.
This proposal is intended to celebrate a legacy of public service and to inspire future generations to lead with integrity, courage, and dedication.
Together, let us celebrate those who have served our people and continue building a stronger, more united Busoga.
