1.0. ORGANISATION’S BACK GROUND

Vision for Children and Youth Forum (VICHYF) is an indigenous Community Based Non-Profit Organization which originated from University Student who hails from Olwal Community in Lamogi Sub County Amuru District Northern Uganda. During their holidays they would came to gather sit with children and youths and try to find out the challenges amidst them in the Community. Some of these notable challenges included high dropout of girl child, infringement on children rights and with youth lack of employment in which they resorted to reckless living and even when sick were to be forced to visit health facilities. Limited access to sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), Family planning, increasing level of HIV/AIDs among the Children, youth, women’s, Violation of women’s rights to access land and limited access to economic assets by the youth andwomen Many youths had given up with life and some few who appeared to be responsible were inclined to charcoal burning where the money got from here were wasted in alcoholism.

Therefore January 2012 the three University Students, 4 (four) Community Youths and 4(four) Former LRA Abductee youth decide to team up giving birth to VHICYF-Uganda and was later registered with the District Community Services Department of Amuru District Local Government with Reg: No CDR/570/1184/B on the 5/07/2012.

The main aim for the establishment of this Organization was to mobilize and sensitize and give guidance to these vulnerable groups in order to live a responsible life. In the course of doing this VICHYF is partnering with other stakeholders to support their mission and vision for the organization

1.1.0 Organization vision: an empowered population where children, youth and women live up to their fullest potentials and are safe from harm, discrimination and Health related matter

1.1.2 Organization mission: our mission is to promote sexual and reproductive health rights, sustainable development in the community, advocacy, training, and involvement of children, youth and women in improving their social wellbeing in the community

1.1.3 Our shared values: meaning youth engagement, non-discrimination on health, accountability and integrity.

ORGANISATION AREA’S OF OPERATIONS:

Vichyf Uganda tern to cover the entire District of Amuru these include all the 5(five sub county namely Lamogi sub-county, Amuru Town Council, Amuru Sub-County,Pabbo sub-county and Attiak Sub-County and few other surrounding neighboring District of Amuru the organization dreams is to become one of the leading youth led community base organization who are Advocating for children, omens and youth social wellbeing in northern region

1.2 .0 AREA OF FOCUS:

1.2.1. Education, Girl child education is the major component under education the priority of the organization is to promote girl child education in Amuru District and the northern region as whole. Through provision of scholarship (bursaries), scholastic materials etc. and linking girls to different sponsorship opportunities, encouraging out of schools youth to joined vocational institution in order to attained life skills and become job creators in their communities

1.2.2. Health: Under health the organization is promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health

Rights (SRHR) both to the adolescence and the youth in the communities and schools, Family Planning Service to adolescent youth for example condom distribution guidance and counseling referral service at the same time fighting against the escalating HIV/AIDs prevalence at the communities among the pregnant mothers and youth through voluntary sensitization, guidance and counseling, referral service and supporting the positive leaving people socially, economically, morally, and linking them to the nearest health facilities so as to enable them access better health service and live longer in their respective communities, community sensitization to reduce on the new Malaria infections and outbreak promoting sanitation and hygiene at the village level and all other youth friendly service through community outreach service

1.2.3. Food Security, Climatic Change and Economic Empowerment

That is supporting the farmers and women youth group within the District especially the fosters parents, single mothers, widows and other vulnerable youth in the community to engage themselves in modern technology of farming that is by transforming their mine set from subsistence to Commercial farming, market linkage and encouragement of the youth to engage in environmental conservation through different methodology such as fruits and tree planting, Afforestation, introduction of new innovation energy saving strove to reduce tree cutting etc. The economic empowerment include strategy include entrepreneurship training in income generating activities

1.2.4. Fundamental Children’s Rights: under this we know children are the futures and their rights needs to be protected by everyone in the community and should be protected as an ‘egg’ there for those who violets children’s rights are our enemies’ forever we want to ensure that people in the community are deeply informed about the children’s right and the penalties of those who goes against that,

the organization is carrying out community sensitization, dialogue, in school especially primary’s and nurseries school campaigned to help in reducing all the child abuses means on the orphans and other vulnerable children (OVC) the organization has promoted early child hood development program through linking one of the ECD center for support from one organization called kikwanda environmental association and the organization has visited many ECD center to monitor and supervised how these children are taught ECD lessons. In Amuru District. the organization is linking these vulnerable children’s to other partners in the sponsorship scheme

1.3.0. ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

1.3.1 Executive Board

Vision for Children and Youth Forum has a board of trustees which is the policy making body and is responsible for providing the overall leadership and the vision of the organization. The Board is also responsible for policy formulation, rules and provides guidance to the management team in policy implementation. The Board is also responsible for the recruitment of staff and volunteers to ensure that the organization operates according to its constitution. In order to execute all these duties, VICYIF has /constituted two Sub-Committee; namely; Finance and welfare Sub-Committee.to ensure smooth running of organization activities

1.3.2. Management Team

Vision for Children and Youth forum has Management staff lead by the Executive Director and Program Manager. The Management team is responsible for the Executive Board and their responsibilities among others includes, Planning, organizing and implementing activities as directed by the Board decision, policies and program. The management Team is organized in two large departments, namely; Program and Finance and Administration.
