Across Uganda, many women carry enormous emotional and economic responsibilities.

They support families, manage financial pressures, and often navigate trauma and uncertainty, frequently with limited access to mental health support.

Mental well-being is therefore not only a health issue. It is a development issue.

A new randomised controlled trial conducted with women in Uganda explores how Transcendental Meditation can support psychological resilience and coping.

Understanding solutions like these is essential because empowering women requires addressing emotional well-being alongside economic opportunity.

Inner peace is the foundation of a strong and empowered life.

Today’s reflection reminds us that when the mind settles into silence through Transcendental Meditation, clarity, creativity, and strength naturally arise. Through this simple practice, we reconnect with our deepest potential and bring more harmony into our families, our work, and our communities.

Take a few moments today to sit quietly, breathe, and allow your mind to settle inward.

Peace within creates change in the world.

What if strengthening inner resilience could transform the lives of women facing immense life pressures?

A newly published randomised controlled trial examined how Transcendental Meditation influences psychological distress and coping among women in Uganda.

This important research contributes to the growing global conversation about mental well-being, resilience, and women’s empowerment.

At African Women and Girls Organisation, we believe that inner stability is the foundation for education, leadership, entrepreneurship, and stronger families.

Over the next few days, we will share insights from this research and why it matters for women and communities.

This International Women’s Day, we joined an inspiring community of women at the Women’s Day Run Uganda organized by Activate Uganda. The event was a powerful reminder that women’s empowerment is deeply connected to wellbeing, resilience, and the strength we cultivate within ourselves.

At AWAGO, we believe that inner calm and mental resilience are the foundation of leadership, opportunity, and lasting transformation. When women nurture their emotional wellbeing and clarity of mind, they strengthen their capacity to lead in their families, workplaces, and communities.

It was deeply inspiring to witness women coming together in solidarity to celebrate health, strength, and the shared commitment to building a future where women and girls can thrive.

When a woman strengthens her inner resilience, she unlocks the power to uplift others. Families grow stronger, communities become more peaceful, and societies move closer to equality and opportunity for all.

Today we celebrate the women who continue to lead with courage, compassion, and vision.

Happy International Women’s Day.

A new year. A new chapter.

As we step into this new year, AWAGO begins from a new home in Ntinda, Kampala, grounded in purpose and preparing to scale.

This move marks the first step toward establishing the AWAGO Wellness and Training Centre, a space envisioned in our strategy to strengthen inner resilience, deepen learning, and support sustainable, community-rooted transformation through Transcendental Meditation.

From here, we continue building the foundations for growth that is calm, intentional, and lasting.

As we begin the new year, AWAGO renews its commitment to building calm, resilient communities across Uganda.

In the past year, thousands of women, teachers, healthcare workers, and young people accessed inner stability through Transcendental Meditation.

The result was clearer thinking, reduced stress, stronger leadership, and more compassionate care in schools, homes, and hospitals.

This year, our focus is scale, quality, and sustainability.
• Deepening impact within women empowerment collectives.
• Strengthening wellbeing systems for teachers and healthcare workers.
• Expanding Safe Starts for children and youth.
• Building partnerships that translate impact into long-term change.

Your trust fuels this work. Together, we move forward with clarity, purpose, and confidence.

Healing begins within. Progress follows.
