Health Plus Development Communications [HEDCO] is a Non-Governmental Organization that was initiated in 2012 and registered in 2013. Health plus aims at promoting and improving the health of the vulnerable girls especially young mothers and their families into Ideal full women who are economically, socially, psychological empowered. HEDCO is currently implementing in Busoga region found in
Eastern Uganda and in the fishing communities located in the central region of Uganda and envisions a society where girls are in full control of their lives, economically empowered and are the agents of change in the families and communities. HEDCO Objectives:
1. Create awareness and promote Health among single and young mothers and orphans
2. Provides Food, clothing, Security for Orphans and families
3. Provides Education for Children and young mothers
4. Create income generating activities for the single and young mothers
5. Set up an information center
6. Campaign against activities which be-little women and orphans
HEDCO Activities:
• Create awareness on health relates issues through performing arts, media and IEC materials
• Empower young mothers with knowledge and life planning skills on sexual Reproductive Health and rights and linking them to youth friendly health care services.
• Advocate for Youth Friendly quality health care services for young mothers.
• Organize young mothers into groups to build partnership, synergy and capacity to generate income.
• Creating a platform for mothers to be able access opportunities in different aspects like markets, capacity building and advocacy among others.
• Providing professional hands on experience in audio/visual training for media practitioners.
