Project New Hope-Uganda is a Non Government Organization whose mission is to raise the next generation of Uganda’s leaders by placing orphaned, abused and abandoned children in families where the necessary love, care, a nurturing environment, spiritual discipleship, education, ph
ysical/ basic needs of life, and the opportunity to reach their greatest potential are provided. Founded by Catherine Odoi and launched on the 8th November 2013
1.4 Purpose
Project New Hope-Uganda exists to raise the next generation of leaders, by pursuing excellence in academic and practical skills, integrity in conduct and moral values, so that each one becomes a responsible Christian and a productive citizen.
1.5 Core Values
Project New Hope-Uganda will be Christ-centered, Scripture based organization in belief and practice. All practices shall reflect Biblical values at all levels, including:
a) Honouring Christ: Modelling every aspect of life on the character of Christ. b) Pursuit of Excellence: Continuous improvement and quality approach to all things. c) Collaborative Team work: Adopting the corporate good before individual desires, peaceful co-existence and ensuring unity in action and decisions. d) Loving Relationships: A focus on open communication, transparency, valuing and recognizing each individual as a gift. e) Integrity: Conduct and behaviour based on virtue including truthfulness, responsibility, accountability, and reliability. f) Innovation: Creativity and forward thinking with deliberate purpose and benefit for all. g) Faith Based Boldness: Taking and managing risk with the freedom to make mistakes. h) Generosity of Spirit: An attitude of giving across time, finance, resource, heart, praise, servant hood and encouragement.
2. POLICY STATEMENT
a) We commit to prioritize delivering services to the destitute and disadvantaged in all our programs, particularly Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs). b) As an organization, we shall maintain an open-door policy towards all child based organizations, as long as the said bodies share our aspirations
c) The governance of the organization shall at all times be approved by its membership through periodic elections and consultations. d) The organization shall at no time be politically partisan, by subscribing to the membership or even remotely affiliating with any political or politically inclined organization
e) We shall at all times strive to cooperate with government and to ensure that the programs we develop are in line with stated government policies, plans and strategies in sectors relevant to our goals and objectives, provided that there shall be nothing in such policies that will imply a compromise of our core values
f) The liability of this organisation will be limited
g) The organisation will receive donations willingly given by members, well-wishers, donors and others for the smooth running of the organisation. h) The incomes, properties and assets of the organisation, shall be applied towards the promotion of the objectives of the organisation as set out in this Memorandum and no parties thereof shall be paid to or transferred directly or indirectly, by way of dividends, loans or otherwise, or by way of profit, to the members of the organisation, provided that nothing therein shall prevent the payment in good faith of reasonable and proper remuneration to any officer or servant of the organisation or to any member of the organisation in return for any services rendered to the organisation, nor prevent proper rent payment for premises let by any member to the organisation from making such payments as may be properly due in the ordinary course of business. i) No addition, alteration or amendment shall be made to this Memorandum of Association for the time being in force unless the same has been previously submitted to and approved by the Board of Directors and the Annual General Meeting
j) Every member of the organisation undertakes to contribute to the assets of the organisation in the event of the debts and liabilities of the organization contracted before he/she ceases to be a member, and the cost charge and expenses of winding up, and for the contributors among themselves such amount as may be required not exceeding Uganda Shillings 50,000 = (Fifty thousand Uganda shillings only). k) If upon the winding up or dissolution of the organization, there remains after satisfaction of all its debts and liabilities any property whatsoever, the same shall not be paid to or distributed among the members of the organisation but shall be donated.
3. OBJECTIVES OF THE ORGANIZATION
a) To provide a loving, nurturing environment for orphaned children who have suffered the loss of their parents through AIDS, abandonment or abuse. b) To develop long term, sustainable initiative's based around agriculture, education and healthcare, enabling Project New Hope-Uganda to be a totally self funded community project. c) To provide the opportunity for orphaned and vulnerable children to reach their greatest potential, growing up to be the leaders of tomorrow and helping those in the community less fortunate than themselves in the future. d) To provide a long term solution to the orphan problem in Uganda utilizing effective systems and procedures to locate suitable extended family or adoptive parents. e) To ensure successful integration back into a normal family environment and long term happiness for each child. f) To work with the Ugandan government in developing a Family Placement Program. This innovative program involves the provision of monetary assistance to the carefully chosen extended family or adoptive parents to assist with school fees and basic expenses to help relieve the financial burden associated with caring for a child. g) To provide long term supervision, support and guidance to the orphans who have passed through the Project New Hope-Uganda Family Placement Program.
