Uganda Centre For ITI aims to promote international exchange of knowledge and practice in the domain of performing arts; stimulate creation and increase cooperation among theatre people; increase public awareness of the need to take artistic creation into consideration in matters concerning development and
to provide platform for practitioners to network and advance their arts. Uganda Centre fo
r ITI will engage in the following activities:
- Organization of symposia, colloquia, conferences workshops and training courses; publishing activity; dissemination of international information concerning theatre.
- Alerting artists on main regular events: ITI World Congress; World Theatre Day on 27th March; International Dance Day on 29th April; Theatre of Nations Festival; University of the Theatre of Cultures; ITI World Performing Arts Academy. Committees and Project Groups (11): International Dance Committee; Music Theatre Committee; International Playwrights' Forum; Theatre Education and Training Committee; Communication Committee; Committee for Cultural Identity and Development; Dramatic Theatre Committee; Young Practitioners Committee; New Project Group; International Monodrama Forum; International Festival Forum. Awards: annual 'Uchimura Prize', in collaboration with ITI Japanese Centre, in recognition of a work or activity related to Japanese theatre; 'World Theatre Ambassador'; 'ITI World Performing Arts Medal'. Also, we engage the stakeholders to revisit the issue of the guild system to enhance cohesion and fairness in ex*****on of work. Worthy to note also is the fact that by reviving Uganda Center for ITI will be cooperating with more than 80 Centres and Territories, for example:
• Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zimbabwe.
• Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico*, Uruguay, United States of America, Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of).
