ActionAid Uganda A global federation working to achieve social justice, gender equality and poverty eradication.

ActionAid International Uganda (AAIU) is a Ugandan Registered Development Organisation with a National Board and General Assembly. It is an Affiliate member of the Global Federation of ActionAid International, an anti-poverty agency working with the poorest communities in over 40 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America to end poverty and injustice. ActionAid has been working in Uganda since 19

82 when it started working in Mityana County in the former larger Mubende District. Since then it expanded its operations throughout Uganda as part of its long-term commitment to work with the socially and economically disadvantaged. We have field offices in Amuru, Busiiki, Kalangala, Katakwi, Kumi, Masindi, Nebbi, Mubende, Kapchorwa, Pader and Pallisa. We also support urban development initiatives in Kawempe Division of Kampala City Council. In 2011, ActionAid Uganda directly reached over 548,192 people (43% women, 31% men, 15% girls and 11% boys) in 49 districts. We support over 80 Community Based Organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations, Civil Society Networks and Alliances working on a number of poverty eradication and rights initiatives in over 50 districts in Uganda. ActionAid takes responsibility for supporting institutional growth, technical support and a high level of fiduciary responsibilities over these partners.

Today, ActionAid International Uganda had the privilege of hosting Sarah May Hénon, Senior Program Manager at ActionAid Denmark, for a strategic engagement aimed at reviewing the restart of the SPA II Programme.

Our discussions focused on our renewed commitments and strategic partnership framework for greater program impact.

We also held a strategic meeting with the leadership of Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) Uganda, led by the country coordinator Mrs Josephine Akia Luyimbazi. We had a constructive discussion about our ongoing partnership and new areas of collaboration on renewable energy interventions, Agroecology and alliance building in climate justice.

In a joint effort to strengthen service delivery, ActionAid International Uganda, through the CLEAR Project, partnered with the Gulu District Local Government Health Department to conduct health monitoring and support supervision across 16 health facilities.
