World Vision Uganda, in partnership with the Buliisa District Local Government and TotalEnergies EP Uganda, has marked notable advancements in education infrastructure and learning outcomes across Lower and Upper Buliisa. This initiative, a component of the Infrastructure Improvement Project, aligns with World Vision’s comprehensive education strategy, which emphasizes early childhood development, teacher training, enhanced learning environments, and active community involvement.

Key achievements encompass the rehabilitation and construction of 14 classrooms, two eight-unit staff houses, the installation of 20 latrine stances and seven water tanks, deployment of solar energy systems, and the provision of 289 desks, 36 chairs, and 19 tables. Institutional capacity was further enhanced by training 66 teachers across 22 schools, distributing 2,625 textbooks, establishing nine book banks, and providing governance training for School Management Committees and Parent Teacher Associations Additionally, a reintegration plan was launched to support adolescent girls at risk of dropping out.

These efforts have created safer and more inclusive learning environments for 1,609 pupils, improved teacher morale, and enhanced community accountability. Beyond this project, World Vision Uganda supports over 550 schools, reaching more than 684,000 learners, and leads WASH interventions in 20 districts, reaching one person every 10 seconds. The organization continues to advance child protection, health, and livelihoods to ensure holistic child development.

In a related development, Jeremiah Nyagah, National Director of World Vision Uganda, officiated the commissioning of a new two-classroom block with an office and store at Nyamasonga Primary School. The Uganda shillings, 157 million investment addresses severe overcrowding, particularly in lower primary classes, where up to 260 pupils previously shared a single classroom. With a total enrollment of 1,153 pupils and only seven classroom blocks, the school faced a pupil-to-classroom ratio of 164:1, well above the recommended standard of 53:1. Serving ten villages in Nyamasonga Parish, Biiso Sub-county.

On this World Food Day, World Vision stands united with global partners under the theme "Hand in Hand for a Better Future'' renewing our commitment to ending hunger and building resilient food systems for every child, everywhere.

Nearly 300 million people went hungry last year – and for the sixth year in a row, the number increased. This increase came as climate extremes, economic shocks, and conflict spiraled, pushing vulnerable families into poverty and hunger. It also comes prior to the escalating crisis in humanitarian funding.

In Uganda, refugees struggle to feed their children. Without food, hope withers. Children drop out of school to search for casual work for survival, and many are forced to choose between the trauma of war or the agony of starvation.

On this World Refugee Day, we call upon all stakeholders to take action to fight child hunger and malnutrition, while we still can.

World Vision Uganda National Director; Jeremiah Nyagah shares his account of his visit to Bidibidi Refugee Settlement.

This , let our solidarity be reflected in our actions, not just our words.
Let’s create an enabling environment where can share their stories, shape their futures, and pursue lasting solutions to their struggles. Together, we can stand in solidarity, reminding every refugee with compassion and courage that they are not alone.

Food ration cuts are forcing refugee children to drop out of school in search of casual work for survival. The urgent need for refugees in Uganda is food to feed their children. Without food, it’s hard for many refugees to rebuild their lives.
