In a world where technology is moving at lightning speed, our community must not only keep up we must lead the way.

By investing in tech skills, we are ensuring that womxn are not left behind, but are instead at the forefront of the digital revolution. We’re excited to share that we recently hosted a 2-day transformative Artificial intelligence (AI) training designed specifically for womxn.

From mastering AI-driven content creation to understanding data privacy and digital security, participants explored how to effectively use AI in both their work and daily lives. The training unpacked different AI models, their strengths and limitations, and highlighted the most useful tools for real-world impact.

But we didn’t stop there. Together, we also examined the risks how AI can reinforce bias against LBQ communities, and the concerns around privacy, surveillance, and data security when using these tools.

This training was not just about building skills. It was about power. It created space for womxn to harness AI to amplify their voices, protect their spaces, navigate the digital economy, and strengthen their advocacy.

As we transition from a month of healing in April, we step into Mental Health May under the theme “More Good Days, together.” While April allowed us to focus on mending, May invites us to cultivate joy and resilience through daily intentionality .

Happy New Month, folks. This month’s Wellness Journal will serve as more than just a diary; it will be a shared roadmap, reminding us that we don’t always have to navigate life on our own.
By following this guide, we shift our focus from individual survival to collective wellness. Let’s use this month to show up for ourselves so we can better show up for each other moving toward more good days, together.

Today, we rise in visibility.

Freedom and Roam Uganda (FARUG) proudly joins the world in celebrating Le***an Visibility Day honoring the courage, resilience, and vibrant diversity of le***an, bisexual, and q***r womxn across Uganda and beyond. As the first and longest standing organization championing LBQ womxn in Uganda, our voices are not just present they are powerful, bold, and unstoppable.

This year, we center the theme: “Health, Wellbeing, and the Right to Thrive.”
Because visibility is not just about being seen it’s about surviving, healing, and thriving. It’s about demanding safe spaces, equitable healthcare, and the freedom to exist fully in a world that too often tries to silence us.
In the face of hostility, we choose visibility.
In the face of erasure, we choose to be seen.

Flashback Friday!

Our community is built on the power of collective resilience. Despite the hurdles at the start of the year, we have remained each other’s safe harbor.

We are thrilled to have officially held our Annual General Meeting (AGM). As always, this was a vital time to reflect on our journey, celebrate our milestones, and strategize for a future where every womxn in Uganda can live with dignity and joy.

In a landscape where our safe spaces are constantly challenged, this AGM served as a brave space to evaluate our strategic interventions. Throughout the meeting, we highlighted our 2025 Annual Report, leadership updates, and community visioning for 2026/27.

Together, we continue to build, lead, and thrive.

Stay tuned to our socials for the full release of our 2025 Annual Report.

This Le***an Visibility Week, we take a moment to honor the power of being seen. We celebrate the vibrant lives and diverse experiences of LBQ womxn in Uganda, reminding ourselves that our existence is authentic, bold, and resilient.

This week, we acknowledge that our mental and physical strength is deeply rooted in the solidarity we share with one another. As we center “Health and Wellbeing,” we recognize what sustains us. Let us continue to prioritize our mental and physical health as a radical act of self-care, drawing strength from our collective voice and shared journey.

To all the LBQ womxn making their mark, finding their joy, and supporting their peers we see you, we celebrate you, and we stand with you. Being seen isn’t just about presence; it’s about ensuring that our community has access to resources, mental health support, and healthcare. We deserve to thrive, not just survive.

Join the conversation and stay informed. Follow us for resources and community highlights throughout the week.

“To be visible is to be brave, but to be healthy is to be powerful.”

Every breath we take is a quiet reminder. We are still here, still rising, still becoming.

In moments when the journey feels heavy, pause, breathe and choose yourself again. Strength doesn’t always roar it lives in the soft decision to keep going.

Today, be gentle with yourself.
Today, choose courage.
Today, just breathe.
