: Last week, from 4-6th June, ACSA Uganda, under the Power 4 Food Partnership (P4FP) programme, conducted a 3-day RA-PURE Champions Training and Multi-Stakeholder Engagement in Mubende district. Participants comprised of representatives from the DLG (including District Production Officer, District Agricultural Extension Officer, and District Water and Environment Officer), CSOs, and farmers championing RA-PURE.

📌 Days 1&2: The training of RA-PURE champions was conducted at Homeland Organics in Mubende District. During the training, an interim committee for the Mubende District Association of Productive Users of Renewable Energy was selected.

📌 Day 3: Field and Practical Learning Exchange visits to champion farmers and RA-PURE training demonstration centres, coupled with peer-to-peer learning and field reflections.

At the upcoming 2026, scheduled for 8–14 June 2026 at Lubiri-Mengo, ACSA Uganda & partners will convene a Value Chain Dialogue on 12 June 2026 under the theme: “Unlocking Youth and Women Enterprise Opportunities in Uganda’s Coffee Value Chain – From Harvest to Market.”

The dialogue will bring together youth & women entrepreneurs, exporters, regulators, financiers, cooperatives, development partners, and agribusiness actors to explore opportunities across the coffee value chain.

Throughout the week-long trade fair, ACSA, together with its member organizations and partners, will also exhibit and showcase RA-PURE products and innovations that support sustainable value chain development.

📌 : The 2-day training workshop on Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS) focused on the significance, principles and challenges of in agriculture. Emphasis was placed on sustainable, inclusive and community-driven certification approaches for smallholder farmers, and the need for affordable, inclusive and trustworthy organic certification systems.

Sessions covered explored the core principles of organic agriculture while highlighting the growing challenges associated with costly third-party certification systems. The event was finalized with a certificate awarding session to the workshop participants.

Special appreciation to the lead workshop facilitators from NOGAMU, Chariton Namuwoza (CEO), and Julie Nakalanda Matovu (National PGS council).

: Today, we held a training workshop on Participatory Guarantee Systems ( ) for our members at J-Frigh Hotel, Makerere.

The training aimed to equip ACSA Uganda members and farmers within the network with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the complexities of certification, promote community-driven approaches, and build consumer trust.

Sessions were facilitated by NOGAMU (National Organic Agricultural Movement of Uganda) and covered topics including standards, guidelines & processes, stakeholder roles in PGS, governance, capacity building, and sustainability of PGS initiatives.

: Yesterday, we held a meeting with Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) Country Coordinator Murat Çetin and a delegation from Türkiye - Sibel and Atilla - to explore areas of partnership with Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF).

MAAIF was represented by Sir Bob George Sunday, Senior Agriculture Officer and Focal Person for Agroecology & Organic Agriculture, together with John Matomi, Principal Agriculture Officer. ACSA Uganda was represented by Harriet Nakasi - National Coordinator, and Florence Nassuuna - Policy & Advocacy Officer.

📌 ACSA Uganda conducted a follow-up visit to Caritas Kasese to review work plans supported by Misereor and SNV, with a focus on identifying areas for collaboration. The meeting also explored potential social enterprise initiatives, with ideas shared and discussed to define possible actions and a way forward.

📌 A productive engagement was also held with the Kasese District Production Officer (DPO) to review the status of agricultural ordinances, ongoing initiatives and value chains, the district’s support to farmers, and opportunities for collaboration.
