Yesterday, we were thrilled to host the Women 2025+ National Dialogue in commemoration of the Beijing Declaration.

This event provided a unique opportunity for local stakeholders, Heads of Mission, Resident Representatives from UN Agencies and youth leaders to reflect upon harmful social norms, gender based violence and unequal treatment that hold women and girls back.

Ahead of the + National Dialogue, we’ve hosted Ms. Rita Aciro, Executive Director, Uganda Women’s Network & Dr Katja K, Head of the Austrian Embassy on the NTV Breakfast show.

During the discussion, Ms Rita Aciro noted that despite several milestones such as increased representation of women in decision making spaces, enactment of gender responsive policies and women’s economic empowerment; it is not yet Uhuru for women and girls.

Dr Katja highlighted that ADC in Uganda is closing the gender gap through various initiatives including: promoting access to justice and the + National Dialogue, which is part of a broader collaborative campaign initiated by female heads of diplomatic missions, UN agencies and male changemakers from various sectors including the Government of Uganda.
