πŸŒŸπŸ™ Celebrating Martyrs Day in Style!

At Awach HCIV, our trained health service provider is breaking barriers by demystifying negative traditional norms, attitudes, and values that prevent young people from accessing vital Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR) services. The chairperson LCIII crowns up the dialogue with the available youth.

🌍✨ Breaking Barriers, Building Knowledge!

Straight Talk Foundation (STF), under the NORAD project, continues to empower young people at Anaka Hospital by addressing the traditional norms, attitudes, and values that affect access to Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR) services.

πŸ’¬ One of our trained focal persons engaged youth in an open dialogue, tackling myths and misconceptions that often discourage them from seeking services at health facilities.
🩸 Another dedicated health service provider unpacked the details of Menstrual Hygiene and Management (MHM)β€”highlighting shared roles and responsibilities to overcome stigma and misconceptions around menstruation.

Together, we are strengthening protection and prevention, while ensuring that young people receive accurate information and supportive services.

🌸✨ Celebrating Menstrual Health Day in Moroto! ✨🌸

Straight Talk Foundation (STF), in partnership with Moroto District Local Government, joined pupils of Loputuk Primary School to mark Menstrual Health Day under the global theme .

🎭 Learners presented a powerful drama skit showing how girls can be supported during menstruation with respect and dignity.
🩸 The celebration emphasized the importance of ensuring access to safe menstrual products and accurate information for women and girls.

We thank Welthungerhilfe (WHH) for the support in making this day impactful and memorable. Together, we are building a world where menstruation is met with dignity, respect, and care. 🌍πŸ’ͺ

🌟 Transforming Youth Futures in Wakiso! 🌟

Since 2017, Straight Talk Foundation (STF), with support from Save the Children, has been implementing the Baana Project to increase access to SRHR information and services for young people in Kakiri, Namayumba, Masuliita, and Gombe sub-counties of Wakiso District.

πŸ“š Over the years, the project has:
βœ… Reached 1,350,000 in-school adolescents with age-appropriate SRHR information.
βœ… Directly interacted with 3,240 learners face-to-face from 82 target schools.
βœ… Engaged 54,000+ out-of-school youth around 23 target health facilities.

πŸ’‘ STF has focused on producing and disseminating age-appropriate content for both in-school and out-of-school youth. Through Young Talk newsletters, distributed with the support of Senior Woman and Senior Man teachers trained in youth-friendly SRHR service delivery, adolescents have gained vital knowledge to make informed choices.

Together, we are building healthier, empowered communities where young people can thrive! 🌍✨

Menstruation is natural, normal and should never be a source of shame.

In this powerful Op-Ed, Straight Talk Foundation's Luke Twesigye argues that menstrual health must become everybody’s responsibility β€” from families and schools to governments and communities.

In this Op-Ed, Straight Talk Foundation's Luke Twesigye argues that menstruation should no longer be treated as a women’s issue alone, calling for collective responsibility to build a period-friendly world with dignity, equality and support for girls and women.

🌍✨ Dialogue for Safer, Healthier Futures!

Straight Talk Foundation (STF), in partnership with Amuru District Local Government and the dedicated health workers of POGO Health Centre III, held an engaging dialogue with young people on the traditional norms, attitudes, and values that affect the realization of Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR).

πŸ’¬ A trained health worker facilitated discussions, helping youth identify and β€œharvest” traditional barriers that limit access to ASRHR services at the facility.
πŸ›‘οΈ The facility nurse also shared safety measures to prevent the spread of Ebola virus, a critical concern as Amuru borders Adjumani and other West Nile districts currently at high risk.

Together, we are strengthening prevention, protection, and response to sexual violence, while safeguarding communities against health threats.
