This is a remarkable achievement worth celebrating. We commend the Government of Uganda, health workers, community leaders, development partners, and every citizen who played a role in stopping the outbreak.
This victory reminds us that WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) is one of our strongest defenses against infectious diseases. Access to clean water, proper sanitation, regular handwashing with soap, and good hygiene practices help prevent the spread of diseases and protect our communities.

As we celebrate today, let us not lower our guard. Clean hands, clean environments, and safe sanitation save lives every day.
Together, let's continue building a healthier and safer Uganda.

Poor waste disposal is more than an eyesore—it is a serious threat to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH).
When garbage is dumped in roadsides and drainage channels, it: Pollutes water sources, making clean water unsafe. Blocks drainage systems, leading to flooding. Creates breeding grounds for mosquitoes and other disease-carrying pests. Increases the spread of diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and diarrhea. Damages our environment and reduces the quality of life in our communities.
Every piece of waste disposed of properly helps protect our health, our environment, and our future.
Let's all take responsibility. Use designated waste bins. Separate and recycle where possible. Keep our neighborhoods clean and safe for everyone.
Clean communities begin with responsible waste management. Together, let's protect WASH and build healthier communities.

Soteria Haven Foundation team carried out a sanitation awareness activity in Mengo Parish, where we engaged residents and encouraged households to bring out their garbage for timely collection by the responsible authorities.

Proper waste disposal is more than keeping our surroundings clean—it helps prevent disease outbreaks, protects our environment, reduces blocked drainage channels, and creates a healthier and more dignified community for everyone.

We thank the residents of Mengo Parish for their cooperation and commitment to keeping their neighborhood clean. Together, we can build communities where sanitation is everyone's responsibility.
Let's protect our health. Let's care for our environment.

Our drainage channels are not dumpsites.
When we throw rubbish into water channels, the consequences affect us all.
Blocked drainage leads to flooding, creates breeding grounds for mosquitoes, contaminates water sources, and increases the spread of diseases such as cholera and typhoid. It also pollutes our communities and robs families of a safe and healthy environment.
Every piece of rubbish belongs in a bin not in our waterways.
Let's protect our environment by keeping our drainage channels clean.
Clean drains. Healthy communities. Better lives.

Millions of people still lack access to safe, clean, and dignified toilet facilities. Without proper sanitation, communities face higher risks of diseases, environmental pollution, and reduced dignity, especially for women, girls, children, and people with disabilities.
Investing in quality toilet facilities means: Better public health, reduced spread of preventable diseases, greater dignity and privacy, improved school attendance, especially for girls, Cleaner and healthier communities.

Every home, school, workplace, and public space deserves safe sanitation facilities. Together, we can build communities where everyone has access to clean and dignified toilets.
At Soteria Haven Foundation, we believe that improved sanitation starts with access to safe toilet facilities. Let's work together to create healthier communities.

A realistic photo showing local council workers collecting heaps of garbage and loading bundled waste onto a local authority truck/van for proper disposal in Kiyaaye slum, Kampala. The environment should show active community participation and improved cleanliness.

Period poverty is more than a health issue—it's an education and equality issue.
Reports show that many Ugandan girls continue to miss school because they lack access to menstrual products and adequate sanitation facilities. Some studies have found that over 60% of girls in certain communities report missing school due to menstrual-related challenges.
Every pad donated, every girl educated, and every stigma challenged brings us one step closer to menstrual equity.
Join us in ensuring that no girl is left behind because of her period.
