We have been working on setting clear expectations to support our children under the Educate a Child Program, commonly known as sponsorship. As part of this, Norton has been engaging with our post-secondary students to help them understand these expectations and what is required of them moving forward.

We remain deeply committed to supporting our children not only to succeed academically, but also to grow into responsible individuals who are good stewards of the opportunities given to them. We want to ensure that every contribution made by our sponsors is used wisely and makes a meaningful impact.

We are truly grateful for the strong teamwork and collaboration with the Engage Hope SAC team. The ideas and insights shared have been instrumental in developing policies and processes that will lead to positive outcomes for everyone involved.

To our donors, we sincerely appreciate you. Your support changes lives, and we are committed to doing our very best to ensure that your sponsored children are supported, guided, and empowered to succeed.

Under our Village of Hope program, with the generous support of our Australian friends, we were able to provide three safe water wells to the community.

These wells have not only improved hygiene and access to clean water, but have also saved lives. In the past, children were at constant risk of drowning in ponds as they fetched water for their families, something that was their daily responsibility. Today, that heartbreaking reality has come to an end.

We are deeply grateful to our friends who made this possible.

Now, nearly 10 years later, all the wells are still functioning well. The community has taken full ownership, ensuring maintenance and carrying out repairs whenever needed. This is a true testament to sustainable impact and shared responsibility.

To everyone who prayed for Elvis, we want to say a heartfelt thank you. Your prayers and support truly mean the world to us.

We are grateful to share that Elvis has made it to the next round of trials! 🙏🏾🏃🏾‍♂️

Unfortunately, his hamstring injury flared up again right after he crossed the finish line, but we remain hopeful and encouraged by his determination and progress.

Please continue to keep Elvis in your prayers as he recovers and prepares for what lies ahead. The focus remains on the Olympics, and we believe the best is still to come.

Thank you for standing with him on this journey!!

From the Streets to National Athletics Trials! 🏃🏾‍♂️

Today is a very big day for Elvis Kinyera.

There was a time when Elvis ran on the streets not for sport, but for survival. Many times he had to run from the police while living on the streets. What began as survival eventually revealed a special gift—his passion and talent for running.

After Elvis was rescued, he went through rehabilitation at African Hearts Community Organisation and later joined African Hearts Junior School. Academically, the journey was not easy. He struggled in the classroom and eventually had to be withdrawn from the formal class environment so he could receive more individualized support until he could catch up. But one thing always stood out clearly—his strength in sports.

Even after leaving the streets, life has still been challenging. When his sponsorship dropped, Elvis stayed out of school for two years and survived through casual jobs. Thankfully, African Hearts later secured him a bursary to pursue a certificate in Social Work. Even now he continues doing casual jobs just to survive.

Imagine training as an athlete with limited food, often not the right nutrition, no professional coach, while competing with athletes from across the country.

Yet despite all these challenges, Elvis has been called up for the National Athletics Trials. This alone is an incredible achievement.

His dream is even bigger—to represent our country in the upcoming Olympics.

Yesterday he shared with me that he has been nursing a hamstring injury, but he refuses to miss this golden opportunity. In his words he said:
“My last training I made 100 meters in 11 seconds and the world record stands at about 9 seconds. I can do this.”

Please join us today in praying for Elvis as he steps onto that track.
Pray for strength.
Pray for healing for his hamstring.
Pray for favor and courage.

From the streets to national trials… this is already a victory. 🙏🏾

After successfully completing Senior Four, Irene used her time to make us handmade baskets. That was all she could afford yet to us, it meant everything.

In her words, she said:
“Looking back at my life and all the circumstances around me, I never saw any hope of completing such an educational milestone. I am here to say thank you for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. Now I can see hope for a bright future.”

We have seen that hope in her eyes. We have witnessed the transformation the empowerment and confidence she once never had. She is no longer the timid girl she used to be.

But the credit does not belong to us.

Today, we want to truly honor Irene’s sponsor and all our sponsors who faithfully support these children financially so they can become everything God created them to be. We know it is a sacrifice and often for a long season but it is worth it.

You are the real heroes.

At African Hearts Junior School, we don’t only provide head knowledge, we raise future leaders who will transform communities.

We believe in holistic education: training the mind, shaping character, and equipping hands with practical skills.

A special thank you to Bread for Life Ministries for blessing us with a bakery! 🥖 Through this incredible gift, our children are learning to bake their own bread and enjoy the fruit of their labor.

This is more than baking. It’s dignity. It’s empowerment. It’s preparation for life.
