The safety and security of the children in our care remain a top priority at Save Sunshine Shelter Kids. We are committed to maintaining programs and shelters that uphold our mission to rescue, protect, educate, rehabilitate, shelter, and reintegrate vulnerable children.

𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐌 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆
Recently, we have received several concerning reports from followers and friends regarding individuals who appear to be using our photographs, videos, and organizational information without authorization and with a different agenda. According to the information shared with us, these individuals have been presenting themselves as being affiliated with Save Sunshine Shelter Kids and have allegedly been soliciting donations for our programs and proposed mission trips for the past 2 to 3months and to this present day.

We became aware of this situation after being contacted by individuals who had received emails and messages requesting financial support for activities claimed to be connected to Save Sunshine Shelter Kids and an upcoming mission trip. During these conversations, we learned that the individuals involved were reportedly claiming to work with our organization, supporting our programs, and conduct mission trips to Uganda especially save sunshine shelter kids this year.

We wish to make it absolutely clear that Save Sunshine Shelter Kids has no representatives in the United States authorized to raise funds on our behalf currently, nor are we currently involved in any fundraising initiatives or mission trips organized by individuals claiming to represent us there and not aware of which mission trips or any permitted visit to our shelter.

We sincerely apologize to anyone who may have been misled by these claims. Any fundraising activities conducted under our name without our direct authorization or public posts on any of our media platform or website are not affiliated with Save Sunshine Shelter Kids.

We believe that some of our publicly available content has been copied from our website and social media platforms and used in ways that may create the false impression of an official relationship with our organization. We urge the public to exercise caution and verify any fundraising appeals claiming to represent Save Sunshine Shelter Kids before making donations or commitments.

We have been informed of mission trips that are reportedly being planned in the coming months. However, Save Sunshine Shelter Kids has no knowledge of these proposed visits and has not authorized any individual or group from the United States to organize activities on our behalf. Furthermore, we have not received any formal visit requests, partnership proposals, or official communications regarding such trips. Based on these facts, we believe the claims of affiliation with our organization are false and unauthorized.

𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐒
We currently receive support from dedicated friends in Canada who assist with various aspects of our work, including:-

(a) Canada
• Covering the rent for our girls' shelter.
• Supporting children's school fees whenever possible.
• Assisting with emergency needs and critical program expenses.
We are grateful for their continued partnership and generosity.

(b) USA
In addition, we are grateful for the support of several friends and well-wishers in the United States who contribute on a voluntary basis through one-time donations and emergency assistance, especially for medical emergencies involving vulnerable and rescued street children.
As an organization, we have always prioritized transparency and accountability. We regularly share updates through our website, Newsletters, Emails, and Social media platforms to keep supporters informed about our activities and finances.

𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐎𝐔𝐒 𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂 𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐒

We publicly announced the termination of a partnership that no longer aligned with our organizational values, objectives, and operational approach.

At that time, we requested that no further use be made of Save Sunshine Shelter Kids' photographs, videos, publications, or project materials without our prior written consent.

(b) March 13, 2026
We received reports from individuals in South Africa indicating that someone was using our program information and photographs while claiming to represent our organization and requesting financial support.
We wish to clarify that Save Sunshine Shelter Kids has no partners or representatives in South Africa and has not authorized any individual to solicit funds on our behalf there.

We first met 𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐊 many years ago when he was just a young boy finding his place in the world. Today, at 17 years old, he has grown into a vibrant, creative, and uplifting young man whose presence lights up the boys’ shelter every single day.

Patrick has a deep love for music, dance, and drama, and he brings those passions to life whenever there is a moment to perform, laugh, or simply lift the mood of those around him. Whether it’s a spontaneous dance routine, a song shared with friends, or a short drama piece that gets everyone smiling, Patrick has a natural gift for entertainment that keeps the shelter alive with energy and joy.

Beyond his creativity, Patrick has also developed a remarkable sense of responsibility. He loves to cook, and he is often found in the kitchen preparing meals for the boys at the shelter. Cooking has become one of the ways he shows care for others, and he takes pride in making sure no one goes hungry and everyone feels at home.

His journey has not always been easy, but through resilience, support, and determination, Patrick continues to grow into a confident young man with dreams and direction. He is learning, improving, and steadily shaping a future built on his talents and kindness.

Patrick often says it in his own way: “𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇 𝐌𝐄 𝐆𝐋𝐎𝐖 𝐔𝐏.” And truly, that is exactly what he is doing, step by step, becoming stronger, more focused, and more determined to succeed.

Following the ongoing implementation of the Street Youth Group Counseling Initiative, the program has continued to show gradual but meaningful progress among participating street connected boys. Engagement levels remain mixed however, there is a noticeable improvement in responsiveness among a small group of older boys who are beginning to show consistency in attendance and participation during counseling sessions.

The strategy of conducting smaller, targeted counseling groups has proven more effective in building trust and encouraging openness, particularly among older youth who previously felt overlooked in larger group settings. These focused sessions have allowed for deeper dialogue, improved emotional expression, and more accurate assessment of individual readiness for transition support.

A number of boys have begun demonstrating early signs of behavioral adjustment, including improved communication, increased willingness to share personal experiences, and a growing acceptance of guidance. While these changes are still in the early stages, they represent an important shift from initial resistance and distrust toward gradual engagement with the rehabilitation process.

Despite these positive developments, consistency remains a challenge, as some participants continue to move in and out of sessions due to unstable living conditions, peer influence, and survival pressures on the streets. Continued persistence and flexible outreach scheduling remain essential to maintaining contact with this group.

The young boy previously identified as showing strong potential for transition continues to make steady progress. He has maintained consistent attendance and is increasingly demonstrating emotional stability, improved self-awareness, and a stronger sense of responsibility.

During recent sessions, he has shown greater willingness to reflect on his past choices and engage in structured discussions about his future. His behavior indicates growing readiness for structured rehabilitation support, though continued observation is necessary to fully assess his long-term stability.

The resettlement journey continues to bring both progress and challenges as children adjust to life with their families and communities. Many children are showing positive changes in behavior, emotional wellbeing, and school participation, though the transition from street life to home life remains a gradual process that requires patience, guidance, and ongoing support.

Follow up visits reveal encouraging outcomes, with several children returning to school and working hard to bridge learning gaps caused by years away from formal education. While some continue to struggle with discipline, emotional regulation, and adapting to family expectations, families remain committed to supporting their children through the reintegration process.

Behavioral challenges such as aggression, stealing, and conflicts at home still occur, particularly among children who developed survival behaviors while living on the streets. Through counseling, family engagement, and continuous follow-up, efforts are being made to strengthen family relationships and create stable home environments where children can heal and thrive.

𝐀 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞, 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬
One of the encouraging success stories is that of 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬 who has made remarkable progress since returning home. Through the support of his family, regular follow-up visits, and his own determination, Julius has embraced education and shown significant improvement in both behavior and academic performance.

His confidence has grown, and he is now preparing to join boarding school this term an important milestone that reflects his hard work and commitment to building a brighter future. Julius's journey is a powerful reminder that with support, perseverance, and opportunity, children can overcome difficult beginnings and achieve their dreams.

At Save Sunshine Shelter Kids, we believe education is one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives. Last term, we are proud to see encouraging academic progress among the children under our care.

Last term was a journey of learning, growth, resilience, and new beginnings for the children at Shelter. Despite the challenges faced along the way, we are thankful to see many of the children making encouraging progress both in school and in their personal development.

The children generally performed well in their midterm examinations, and it was beautiful to see their confidence growing throughout the term. The girls performed exceptionally well overall, showing determination, discipline, and consistency in their studies. Many of them continue to inspire us with their hard work and positive attitude toward education.

The boys also showed improvement, although some of the younger Grade Two boys are still struggling with reading and writing. Even so, we are proud of the effort they continue to make every single day. With extra support, practice during the holidays, and encouragement from teachers and caregivers, we believe they will continue building stronger skills and confidence.

One of the biggest adjustments last term was transferring some children to new schools. While this transition was emotionally difficult at first, many of the children are slowly adapting to their new environments, making friends, and settling into their classes. Their strength and resilience during these changes have truly been inspiring.

We also saw positive behavioral improvement among many of the primary school children, with better discipline, cooperation, and participation in school activities. Our boarding students and candidates benefited greatly from the quieter learning environment, which helped improve concentration and academic focus.

We are especially proud of Isaiah, our university nursing student, whose commitment and determination continue to remind us why education matters so much. His journey gives hope and motivation to the younger children who dream of building successful futures as well.

Although the term came with many responsibilities and challenges, we remain grateful for every person who continues to stand with Save Sunshine Shelter Kids through prayers, encouragement, and support. Because of your kindness, these children continue to learn, dream, and believe in a brighter future.

At Save Sunshine Shelter Kids, our feeding programs are one of the most vital foundations on which all our programs operate. Whether at the shelter or during our street children outreach programs, we believe that proper nutrition is essential for every child’s growth, health, happiness, and ability to learn. Every child under our care receives breakfast, lunch, and supper because a well-fed child feels safer, healthier, and more hopeful about tomorrow.

During our outreach programs for street-connected children, we make sure there is variety and change in the meals provided so the children can enjoy balanced and nourishing food. Many of the children we reach on the streets often survive without proper meals, and for some, the food they receive during our programs may be the only complete meal they have that day. This is why we work hard to provide meals that help build their bodies, restore strength, and bring comfort and joy to children who face many daily hardships.

We continue this same commitment at the shelter, where feeding remains an important part of the children’s daily lives. Having regular meals gives children peace of mind because they know food will be available and everyone will receive a full plate and leave satisfied. These meal times also create moments of love, togetherness, laughter, and healing, helping children feel cared for and emotionally secure.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mrs. Karron for funding part of our feeding program last month. Your kindness and generosity helped ensure that our street outreach programs operated successfully with meals and breakfast provided for the children. Our street children outreaches continue to reveal the growing number of vulnerable children surviving on the streets of Kampala. Many of these boys arrive exhausted, hungry, sick, and emotionally broken after facing neglect, violence, drug abuse, and unsafe living conditions. Through regular outreach activities, we create opportunities to build trust and establish meaningful relationships with the children, many of whom initially struggle to believe that genuine care and support still exist.

One of the greatest challenges we face is the increasing number of younger children joining street life at an early age. Some have fled abusive homes, while others have been abandoned or forced onto the streets due to poverty and family breakdown.
During our outreach sessions, we not only provide practical support such as food, hygiene assistance, medical attention, and counseling, but we also listen to their stories and begin helping them see the possibility of a different future.

Our outreach team continues to identify children who show readiness for rehabilitation, education, vocational training, and reintegration into safer environments. While the process of transformation takes time, patience, and consistent follow up, we remain encouraged by the progress many of these boys continue to make. Every child reached through these outreaches represents an opportunity for restoration, healing, and hope.

A key part of our outreach program is the feeding and counseling sessions we conduct for the children. For many of these boys, the meals provided during outreach may be the only proper food they receive that day. Beyond meeting physical needs, these moments also create a safe environment where the children can open up about their struggles, fears, and experiences on the streets.

Through counseling, encouragement, and guidance, we help them understand that their lives have value and that there is still hope for a better future beyond street life.

We continue witnessing extraordinary transformation among the children through mentorship, education, counseling, and life skills training. Every day, the children are growing physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially as they rebuild their lives with hope and purpose.

The children continue showing remarkable improvement in discipline, cooperation, gratitude, and respect for one another. We are seeing a beautiful transformation from frustration and conflict to sharing, appreciation, kindness, and mutual understanding within the shelter community.

The boys are becoming more peaceful, caring, and cooperative. They are learning healthy communication skills, understanding one another better, and resolving disagreements without violence. This growth is helping build stronger friendships and healthier relationships among them.

The girls also continue progressing rapidly through practical life skills, teamwork, and responsibility. Many are now confidently preparing meals, managing their personal belongings responsibly, and contributing positively to the family-like environment at the shelter.

We continue organizing counseling sessions and mentorship meetings where the children receive guidance and encouragement from former street children who are now responsible adults. Their stories inspire hope, resilience, and determination among the children. A mentoring pastor also visits monthly to provide spiritual and emotional encouragement, helping the children develop confidence, purpose, healing, and hope for the future. These sessions continue to promote emotional healing, self-worth, positive thinking, and lasting transformation.

Through teamwork, shared responsibilities, and mutual care, the shelter has become more than just a home, it has become a family. The children are learning how to support one another emotionally, socially, and spiritually while growing together in unity, love, and respect.

“Our desire is not only to see the children prosper, but also to help them improve academically and socially, because much of their growth and transformation is strengthened through their relationships and interactions with one another.”
