At Film Impact Movement (FIM), we believe filmmaking is best learned by doing. That's why our training goes beyond the classroom, giving young emerging filmmakers the opportunity to work with professional equipment, collaborate on set, and gain real-world production experience.

Every practical session builds confidence, strengthens technical skills, and prepares our trainees to create authentic, compelling stories that reflect the richness and diversity of Uganda and Africa.

As a youth-led not-for-profit organization founded in Uganda, FIM is committed to empowering the next generation of filmmakers through hands-on training, mentorship, and collaborative learning that transforms talent into opportunity.

We're proud to look back on the moment our President- J Jamal Musenze facilitated a filmmaking workshop for young filmmakers at the U.S. Embassy Uganda (American Space) —sharing knowledge, inspiring creativity, and encouraging the next generation to use film as a tool for positive change.

The journey continues.

As part of the Film Impact Movement (FIM) Road Trip 2026, we proudly traveled with a delegation of young emerging Ugandan filmmakers to the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) from 22–30 June 2026.

Beyond attending screenings, networking sessions, and industry events, I had the privilege of sitting down with the CEO of the Zanzibar International Film Festival for a meaningful conversation about the future of our travel initiative. We discussed opportunities to strengthen collaboration and explore ways of supporting more young Ugandan filmmakers to participate in future editions of ZIFF.

At Film Impact Movement, we believe that access creates opportunity. By connecting emerging filmmakers to regional and international platforms, we are building networks, nurturing talent, and opening doors that can shape the future of African cinema.

We look forward to continuing these conversations and creating more opportunities for the next generation of storytellers.

This journey was about more than reaching a destination. It was about learning from industry professionals, connecting with filmmakers from across Africa and beyond, and inspiring our young creatives to dream bigger and tell stories that reflect our communities.
To everyone who supported this initiative, thank you for believing in the power of young storytellers. The road may have ended, but the impact of this experience will continue to shape the future of Ugandan cinema.

From Uganda to Zanzibar, our journey to the Zanzibar International Film Festival (22nd–30th June 2026) was filled with unforgettable moments, meaningful conversations, and shared aspirations.

Every stop reminded us that filmmaking is about more than creating films—it's about building community, discovering new perspectives, and representing Uganda with pride.

These moments captured along the way tell the story of young filmmakers determined to learn, grow, and make their mark on African cinema.
