On 14 March 2026, the Nakawa PVAC Cluster comprising Uganda, , and Anchors For Women Uganda came together to mark International Women's Day ( ) with a powerful community dialogue at our PVAC office in .
United under the theme "Breaking Cycles of Violence: When Women Thrive, Children Flourish," community members, local leaders, focal teachers, parents, youth, and civil society organizations gathered for honest, courageous conversations about the deep link between women's safety and children's well-being.
We talked about how spousal violence doesn't just harm women, it silently shapes the futures of their children. When women live in fear, children grow up in insecurity. But when women are empowered, respected, and safe, children thrive in school, at home, and in life.
The dialogue brought together voices from LC I, II & III, the Kampala Girls Cluster, school leaders, parenting facilitators, and community members all committing to practical action toward homes and schools free from violence.
Together, we affirmed that empowering women is not separate from protecting children — it IS child protection.
Key themes explored:
⭕️ How domestic conflict affects children's mental health & education
⭕️ The role of fathers & mothers in modeling healthy relationships
⭕️ Economic stress as a driver of violence
