When you’re pregnant, the intestine of your baby is filled up with substances that your baby will pass out as p**p after birth.

We call the first poo of your baby
MECONIUM .

Now your baby has to pass this stool to show that its intestines ( digestive tract) are working.

The appearance of this meconium is sticky and dark green in colour.

And it usually comes out within a few hours or within 48hrs after birth.

If this doesn't happen, you should call to the attention of a pediatrician to see your baby

But Sometimes some babies happen to p**p in the womb before they are born.

This makes the water around the baby ( Amniotic fluid) greenish in colour.

So if you’re pregnant and suddenly your water breaks please and please check the colour of the water if it’s greenish in colour please start running to the hospital and make sure you tell your midwife

Even when you’re in labour try as much as you can to be sensitive even in pain
If you notice any discharge that is greenish, report it to your midwife

If your baby passes meconium while they're still in the womb (before they're born), there is a chance they could inhale it.

If they do, it could cause them some difficulty with breathing, a rare complication called
meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS).

Education is more than just academics – it's the key that unlocks a girl's potential, her confidence, and her dreams.

When we celebrate a girl's love of learning, we're telling her that her curiosity matters, 🧠 her questions are important, and her thirst for knowledge is something to be proud of.

Thanks goes to our members, Delilah Kirabo, Delilah Namutebi our President, Resty Nabatte, Lucy Akiiki, Jessica Jessy, Hope Mystica for keeping our children in school.

I’ve learned so much this year … I learned that things don’t always turn out the way you planned, or the way you think they should. And I’ve learned that there are things that go wrong that don’t always get fixed or get put back together the way they were before. I’ve learned that some broken things stay broken.

I’ve learned that you can get through bad times and keep looking for better ones, as long as you have people who love you. Those who believe you and standby you. At no or whatever cost. To the donors and members who helped us out, thank you🙏🏾. Only God will bless you more.

Last week we entered our Children's Sanctuary( strictly for children), away from Women's. Better than the previous one..this has a reserved room for visiting adult victims of domestic violence that usually come in to stay for a day or 3 days, away from Busukuma women's home.., for safety and belonging as they figure out their next journey to recovery.

THE LINK BETWEEN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DURING PREGNANCY AND INCREASED RISK OF HEART DISEASE IN CHILDREN.

Research suggests a link between domestic violence during pregnancy and increased risk of congenital heart defects in children.
Stress, anxiety, and physical harm of a pregnant woman, from domestic abuse can negatively impact fetal development directly affecting it's organs like the heart.

:

1. Stress hormones: Elevated cortisol and adrenaline levels affect fetal heart development.

2. Inflammation: Chronic stress triggers inflammation, potentially damaging fetal heart tissue.

3. Nutrient deprivation: Abuse-related stress can lead to poor maternal nutrition, affecting fetal growth.

4. Direct physical harm: Trauma to the abdomen or chest can impact fetal heart development.

Studies have shown associations between domestic violence during pregnancy and:

1. Congenital heart defects
2. Low birth weight
3. Preterm birth
4. Increased risk of infant mortality

However, it's essential to note:

1. Correlation does not imply causation.
2. Many factors contribute to congenital heart defects.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence during pregnancy, you're advised to:

1. Seek immediate medical attention.
2. Contact local support hotlines (e.g.The Women At Crossroads Domestic Violence Hotline: number +256780240370).
3. Reach out to healthcare providers for guidance.

Pregnancy should be a safe and nurturing time. Let's work together to create a supportive environment for all expectant mothers.

“Your job is not to judge. Your job is not to figure out if someone deserves something. Your job is to lift the fallen, to restore the broken, and to heal the hurting.” (Joel Osteen)

In our journey through life, it becomes evident that our purpose extends beyond judgement. Instead of determining worthiness, our true calling lies in lifting the fallen, restoring the broken, and healing the hurting.

Each day presents an opportunity to extend compassion, offer support, and show kindness without reservation.

By embracing this role with sincerity and empathy, we become beacons of light in a world often clouded by doubt and despair.
By focusing on acts of restoration and healing, we contribute to a more compassionate and understanding society, where empathy reigns supreme over judgement. ❤☀

This year we have Seven Girls and 2 boys in Primary Seven making a total of 9, on sponsorship. Since our existence, this is the biggest number of Candidates in Primary Seven we've ever supported. In fact let me take this opportunity to thank Our President Delilah Namutebi, Delilah Kirabo and Selina B Isanka, who have helped us here with these Candidates in one way or the other. One of our girls, Kyoshabire has been sick since Term II...Today as we talked from their school...she has promised me to excell no matter the prevailing situation...and I just told her how she will do to her best, whatever the outcome shall be welcomed home, and she will join a good secondary school.

25th Friday October 2024 will be their Dedication Service. Put them in prayers as the write their exams the following week.

To the Woman On Crossroads

"Tonight, before you go to sleep, think of something that makes you smile. There is always something, no matter how bad your day may have been. You will sleep better, you will feel better once you wake and you will face your new day with a positive mind. Take charge of your happiness."

Before you drift into slumber tonight, recall a moment that warms your heart. A memory, a kind gesture you did, a simple joy—find that spark of happiness in the day's tapestry. It's a small act with profound effects on your well-being.

May the beam of hope, the ray of light, and the whisper of gratitude linger in your soul, shaping your reflections and nurturing your spirit.

Today may have been a bad day...what I promise you for sure is tomorrow will be a good day. Keep the trust💚💜❤️
