a series of experimental sounds, movement, and percussion experiences rooted in Lugbara indigenous rhythm and futuristic energy.

Can the past and present coexist within us, guiding our future?
How do we reconcile ancestral wisdom with the contrast of modern urban life?
How can movement and voice unlock hidden knowledge within us?
How is the body interconnected to the heart, mind and soul in healing from the past and reconnecting with the present?

These questions are not merely intellectual but are lived, felt and embodied in the rhythym of our ugandan ancient multi-sensory perfomance called "Mi Emu Akua" (translated in lugbara language as "Come Home") guided by one artist through movement and one artist through the power of voice.
Together both unravel the spiritual, social and cultural narratives that shape who we are today, as Ugandans and all humans to ascend into a more conscious and deeply-rooted life.
OKUZA invites you to engage, observe and experience your own connection to ugandan heritage and wisdom through your own body. In this created space of exploration, the past is not lost - it is alive, guiding you back home.
Our safespace on the 12th of April 2025 is about sharing wisdom and knowledge by raising together a higher level of consciousness in a sacred space of openess, allowance, transformation and creativity.
AVA is guiding you in our current time of generational transformation, so lay back by oberserving and experiencing yourself by knowing that you are hold by us.

We call people to gather as we present our EP entitled β€œMi Emu Akua” translated as β€œCome Home”.
β€œMi Emu Akua” is one serie of β€œOkuza” which involves as well further art and performance projects. β€œOKUZA” means translated in the Lugbara language (north-western region of Uganda) β€œGATHERING”.

This gathering of AVA is about to create a safe-space for all people of the universe who are searching for a deep journey about the Ugandan ancient heritage while experiencing the intertwined past, present and future.

β€œMi Emu Akua” carries the theme:
*Journey through time: The Inner Self as humans*
It is a multidisciplinary performance which includes six tracks that serve both a cultural and artistic call to rediscover identity, honor ancestry and revive the traditions of Lugbara and Madi people. Grounded in historical and cultural research, β€œMi Emu Akua” examines the impact of colonization, missionary influence and globalization on these indigenous communities while celebrating their resilience.

By weaving history, sound and voices, β€œCome Home” seeks to foster a cultural renaissance in contemporary Ugandan and global contexts.
What does it mean to be Ugandan in today’s world? Can the past and present coexist within us, guiding our future? How do we reconcile the stories of our ancestors while living the contrast of modern urban life? Only these are just some of the questions which Authentic Voices Africa seeks to explore.
