We extend our deepest condolences to the Royal Family, the people of the Tooro Kingdom, and all Ugandans during this difficult time.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come.

Uganda Media Women’s Association (UMWA), in partnership with National Union of Persons with Disability (NUDIPU) and the East African Centre for Disability Law and Policy, is conducting a training for media practitioners on the legal frameworks that protect and promote the rights of Persons with Disabilities in Uganda.

The training aims to strengthen journalists’ understanding of disability rights, relevant laws and policies, and the role of the media in promoting accurate, inclusive and rights-based reporting.

Together, we can build a more inclusive media that amplifies the voices and rights of Persons with Disabilities.

STATEMENT | UMWA Condemns the Closure of Nation Media Group Uganda Platforms

A free and independent media is the cornerstone of democracy, accountability, and development.

The Uganda Media Women's Association (UMWA) strongly condemns the closure of Nation Media Group Uganda (NMG-U) platforms. We call for the protection of press freedom, adherence to due process, and constructive dialogue in resolving disputes affecting the media.

Silencing the media stifles development.
