A new school term means a renewed commitment to girls.
We believe keeping girls in school is not the responsibility of one organisation. It takes a school that is willing to listen. A teacher who sees more than a student's grades.
And over the weekend, our Chief steward Mugaba Joan spent time building partnerships that make our work possible.
She was back in Pallisa, meeting with school administrators who share our vision for girls to stay and excel in school, access opportunities, build confidence to lead change in their communities.
This is not our first time walking alongside schools in Pallisa.
Through , we have spent the past two years working with 30 girls, creating spaces for them to learn about their rights, investigate the barriers affecting their education and engage their communities.
And we have watched those spaces open doors. We intend to deepen impact through . We visited Pallisa High School and Pal and Lisa College engaging school leadership and exploring how we can strengthen our partnerships and create more meaningful opportunities for girls.
Last term, Five girls from Kamuge High School represented their school at the East Africa Girls Leadership Summit in Nairobi, joining 45 girls from across the region.
These are more than numbers to us.
They represent girls finding their voices.
Girls asking better questions.
Girls discovering opportunities beyond what they thought was possible.
Girls beginning to see themselves not just as recipients of support, but as leaders and solution-makers.
But we also know something important: One program cannot change a community. That is why this new term, we are intentional about deepening our partnerships with schools in Pallisa District.
Because our vision goes beyond supporting individual girls. We want stronger schools, Safer communities, More empowered girls and systems that make it possible for every girl to thrive.
So, to the schools, organisations, teachers, parents and community leaders who believe in this vision: Come, let us do this together.
There is a girl who needs someone to believe in her.
There is a school ready to create more opportunities.
There is a community waiting to see what its girls can become.
And there is work to be done.
