HIV is not just a health issue, it is a rights and access issue.

On this , we amplify the voices of girls and young women who remain disproportionately affected due to unequal access to information and reproductive health services. At Women’s Hub Uganda, we continue to champion, Comprehensive sexuality education while creating Safe spaces for young people to ask questions and seek support.

When young people are informed, they are empowered. When they are empowered, they are protected.

Today, we join the world to commemorate International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women which is a day dedicated to raising awareness about GBV and taking action to it, it also marks the beginning of Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign and reminder that silence is expensive and courage is priceless.

Every year we revisit this moment not because we love hashtags but because gender-based violence remains a stubborn, shape-shifting shadow in our communities. Some battles are fought with armies; this one is fought with awareness, compassion, accountability and a call to action for institutions and governments.

Gender-based violence (GBV) is the nuanced, subtle, silent, normalized, whispered about suffering of one based on their gender and for these 16 Days untill 10th Dec - International Human Rights Day, it is about the female victims as behind every statistic is a soul an endangered girl/woman.

Schooling is critical to a young woman's prospects throughout her life.

The amount of schooling a woman obtains affects her occupation, income, chances of marriage, risk of poverty and welfare dependence and, more generally, the quality of her own life and that of her children.

At Women’s Hub Uganda, we believe that when a girl is educated, supported, and seen, she becomes unstoppable - not just for herself, but for her community and the generations to come.

We invest in building girls’ agency because girls are leaders, catalysts of change and they challenge circumstances across the globe.

Through our girl-led spaces in schools, girls are being positively influenced, supported with monthly dignity kits and knowledge, and given safe places to learn, connect, and grow.
Girls play a crucial role in addressing global issues especially during times of crisis.

Everyday is a reminder that when we invest in girls, we create a more equal, just, and hopeful world for all.

This weekend, our girls gathered for a beautiful session on self-care.
Using the Self-Care Wheel, we explored simple but powerful practices like coloring, centering, and finger holding as activities they can always incorporate to gently remind them that caring for themselves as girl leaders is just as important as caring for others in school or community.

The room was filled with reflection, focus, creativity, and calm as the girls discovered tools they can carry into their daily lives.

At Young Women’s Hub Uganda, we believe that self-care is not a luxury but a foundation for resilience, confidence, and growth for girls and young women.
