𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭. 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬.

In a few days, these five girls from in Pallisa District, Uganda will board a journey to Nairobi, Kenya not just as students, but as representatives of our program to voice the hopes, and aspirations of girls in their community.

With support and invitation from Creative Action Institute the 10th–14th of August 2026 will be memorable to the girls. They are set to join 45 adolescent girls from Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania at the East Africa Girls Leadership Summit (EAGLS) where they will be learning more about the Creative Advocacy Projects, connecting, challenging ideas, and shaping conversations about the future of girls' leadership in our region.

At Women's Hub Uganda, we believe leadership doesn't begin when young people become adults. It begins the moment they are trusted with responsibility, given a platform to speak, and encouraged to lead.

At Women's Hub Uganda, we believe that lasting solutions are built by listening to the people most affected.

Over the past weeks, our girls stepped into their communities - not as students, but as researchers. They asked questions, listened to parents, teachers, and community members, and returned with powerful insights into the barriers preventing girls from accessing education.

Their message was clear: school fees and school requirements, alongside teenage pregnancy, remain two of the biggest challenges keeping girls out of school.

These aren't just statistics. They are real stories, real dreams delayed, and real potential at risk.

As an organization, we are committed to working alongside communities to turn these findings into action. Every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, complete her education, and build the future she dreams of.

This is why we do what we do - because when we empower girls to speak, listen to their experiences, and act on what they tell us, we create solutions that are sustainable and community-owned.

Sometimes, the people closest to the problem already know the solution. We simply have to listen.

This weekend, the Sauti Ya Dada girls returned from the field after conducting community interviews to better understand what continues to stand between girls and their right to education.

We gathered, not to lecture, but to listen. As the girls shared their findings, two issues echoed across nearly every conversation: Lack of school fees plus essential school requirements and teenage pregnancy.

Behind every statistic is a girl whose education has been interrupted, whose dreams have been put on hold, or whose potential is at risk of being forgotten.

What made this exercise powerful wasn't just the findings - it was the process. These were not assumptions made by adults. They were insights gathered by girls who walked through their communities, asked difficult questions, listened with empathy, and returned determined to be part of the solution.

At Women's Hub Uganda, we believe meaningful change starts by centering girls' voices. When girls are trusted as researchers, advocates, and leaders, they help us see challenges more clearly and inspire solutions that are rooted in lived experience.

This is only the beginning as we now understand the problem and design a creative advocacy practicum led by girls.

The conversations have started. The evidence is growing. Now, together with communities, partners, and decision-makers, we must turn these voices into action. Because every girl deserves more than a seat in the classroom she deserves every opportunity to stay there and thrive.

What is one thing that should never stand in the way of a girl's education?

Change begins with one girl who believes she can. We are committed to creating safe spaces where girls can learn, lead, and raise their voices without fear.

Because when girls are empowered with education, mentorship, and opportunity, they don't just transform their own futures they help transform the world.
Every girl deserves that chance.

𝐀 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥'𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

For many girls, menstruation is more than a monthly experience - it is a reason to miss school, lose confidence, or even drop out altogether.

The recent Newspapers in Education feature highlights an important truth: when girls have access to accurate menstrual health information, safe sanitation facilities, and menstrual products, they are more likely to stay in school and reach their full potential.

At Women's Hub Uganda, we believe that periods should never stand between a girl and her education. Through our girls' empowerment programmes, we create safe spaces where girls can learn about menstrual health, ask questions without fear, challenge harmful myths, and gain the confidence to manage their periods with dignity. We also engage communities because ending period stigma requires everyone - parents, teachers, boys, and leaders to be part of the conversation.

Menstrual health is not just a health issue. It is an education issue, a gender equality issue, and a human rights issue. Menstrual health is more than access to sanitary products - it's about dignity, confidence, and ensuring every girl can stay in school without fear or shame.

As we continue working to ensure every girl can learn, lead, and thrive, we invite partners, schools, and communities to join us in creating environments where no girl is forced to choose between her education and her period.
Because when girls stay in school, communities prosper.

We are committed to breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation by empowering girls with knowledge, creating safe spaces for open conversations, and advocating for menstrual health as a fundamental part of every girl's right to education.

𝐈𝐟 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐬 𝐚 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝?

It's a simple question, but the answers are anything but simple.

Last Saturday, the Girls gathered for another inspiring learning session, this time exploring the of Rights - a declaration written by girls, for girls. Together, we unpacked its origin, why it exists, and what it means for girls around the world.

One right stood out above the rest: Every girl has the right to free, quality education.

As the conversation unfolded, the girls began asking difficult but necessary questions. If education is a right, why are so many girls still denied it?

The room quickly filled with answers from poverty, child marriage, teenage pregnancy, unsafe journeys to school, inadequate menstrual hygiene support, harmful social norms, disability, to the expectation that girls should prioritize household responsibilities over their education.

The conversation didn’t end there, we challenged the girls themselves to go out in the community and find out more.

This weekend, they will step into their communities not as students, but as young researchers. They will listen to parents, community leaders, fellow girls, and other stakeholders to better understand the barriers preventing girls from accessing and completing their education.

We can’t wait to hear and learn from them deeply because meaningful solutions begin with listening.

In all our work as an Organization, we believe girls are not just beneficiaries of change. They are active researchers, leaders, and problem-solvers. By giving them the tools to ask questions and amplify their voices, we are helping shape solutions that are rooted in their lived experiences.

We did our Year 1 recap with the Sauti Ya Dada girls and we can only say God did it.

As we gear up for Year 3 beginning this Saturday, we are excited as mentors and the girls are super looking forward to doing their Creative Advocacy Practicum.
