OUR STORY (The beginning, mission and general information)

Save a Box for Someone Project (SBSP) aims at Uniting different generous hearts to enjoy the joy of Giving with an aim of rebuilding peoples’ lives from vulnerable situations to morally decent living conditions through the use of a SAVING BOX.

THE HISTORY

This project draws its practice from one of its founding members Naluyima Dorothy who in 2019 after having a habit of continuously saving decided to use her saving in a different way. She in 2019 randomly used the savings she got from her box to open up a business for someone (Nakitende Joweria). After Dorothy watched Nakitende Joweria and her children struggle with life in their neighborhood for a long time, she decided to talk to her, she asked her about her business aspirations and abilities of bettering her life and eventually reached an agreement of a charcoal stall business. On opening her saving box on 28-12-2019, she decided to give those savings to Joweria and they together looked for charcoal wholesalers, bought three(3) bags of charcoal and she started her own business. This action completely changed Joweria’s life for she now earns her own money, independently caters for her children who now go to school and also wholehearted provides food for them.

This action teaches us a lesson of not waiting to collect or earn millions to change someone else’s life, but to simply practice saving from the little you get for a year, put it together and generously use it to create joy and change in someone else’s life who is vulnerably in need. The beauty about this is that it doesn't matter how old you are or what your status in society is, what matters is the heart of joyously giving without expecting back, the wish to create an improvement in someone else’s life who is in need and the willingness to save not for you but for the betterment of those in need.

Just try to imagine, if one box could achieve all this, try to visualize what a collective of boxes can do? After being touched by this action, Sandra (Dorothy’s sister) decided to sit down with Dorothy and they both exchanged ideas on how they could carry on this practice for other people. They both agreed on not just making this a household practice, but decided to open it to the entire world especially to those that wish to create a positive change to all those living in vulnerable situations. Hence the birth of this amazing Project.

THE START

This project is officially starting this year and its open to whoever wishes to use their livelihoods in the betterment of someone else’s life. We are currently a group operating via social media platforms of this page and via WhatsApp with a number 0784285663. All you need to do is reach out to us, we add you in the project platforms, get a saving box and start your and exchange ideas because we believe two heads are better than one. Besides, big things are best achieved when more than two big minds are put together.

HOW WE OPERATE

If you wish to share in this amazing vision, reach out to us via this page

We then add you to our WhatsApp platform and you fully become a member of this group where we endlessly share ideas about ways to improve or govern our project.

Send a video of your recording explaining why you wish to be part of this group, it will help in knowing each other better as we will be posting it on this page too.

Get a saving box and start your saving, it doesn't matter when you join and it doesn't matter how much you will get from it, just save as you wish or feel.

Please be on the look out for those people you feel are in vulnerable situations, they might be in your home areas, work areas, villages etc. Basically people you feel need a generous giving for a betterment in their lives.

Please tell them to put their stories in writing, these stories will help us select who is best suitable for the attained savings to change their lives.

On an agreed date, time and venue at the end of the year, all the members of the project meet with their saving boxes, joyously open them, count their achieved savings and then select in unison from the letters provided who to best help. The number of those to get this help will be determined by the amount achieved.

More ideas can be generated on as we continue to save and grow with the aim of joyously giving but as for now, Save a Box For Someone Project welcomes everyone out there who has always wanted to voluntarily contribute to the betterment of other people’s lives by saving from the little they have to collecting it together to create a positive change.
