Mental health conversations are not a luxury—they are necessary.

As we prepare for the Mama Shirley Memorial Webinar, today we reflect on why this conversation matters more than ever.

Many people are struggling silently:
🌿 Anxiety
🌿 Depression
🌿 Stress
🌿 Grief
🌿 Emotional exhaustion
Yet stigma still prevents many from speaking openly or seeking support.

Mama Shirley believed in creating spaces where people could feel heard, supported, and understood. She reminded us that healing begins when conversations begin.

This webinar is not only about remembering her life—it is about continuing the mission she cared deeply about:
💬 Encouraging open conversations
🤝 Building supportive communities
🧠 Promoting mental health awareness
💜 Giving people hope

When communities come together, healing becomes possible.

The greatest impact we leave behind is often found in the lives we touch.

As we continue honoring Mama Shirley ahead of our memorial webinar, today we reflect on some of the lessons her life and presence taught us.
🌿 Compassion matters

Mama Shirley reminded us that kindness can make people feel seen, heard, and valued.
💬 Conversations can heal

She believed mental health conversations should happen openly and without shame.
🤝 Community support changes lives

She showed us the importance of standing together, supporting one another, and creating safe spaces for healing.

Her legacy continues to inspire us to keep advocating for mental health awareness and to continue building communities filled with hope, empathy, and understanding.

Sometimes one person’s love and dedication can inspire an entire movement.

Some people enter your life for a moment… but leave a lifelong impact.

As we continue preparing for the Mama Shirley Memorial Webinar, today we reflect on who Mama Shirley was to Mhamia Foundation and to the mental health community.

In May 2024, Mama Shirley traveled from South Africa to Uganda to stand with us during Mhamia Foundation’s first Mental Health Awareness Summit.

What touched us most was not only her presence—but her warmth, humility, wisdom, and genuine passion for people.

She believed in:
🌿 Healing through conversation
💬 Creating safe spaces
🤝 Supporting communities with compassion

Reminding people they are not alone
Mama Shirley became part of the Mhamia family, and even after her passing on 8th October 2025, her impact continues to live through the conversations and lives she touched.

Her story reminds us that one caring person can inspire hope in many others.

Honoring a legacy of hope, compassion, and mental health advocacy.

Mhamia Foundation is honored to announce a special webinar in memory of Mama Shirley, a remarkable woman whose love for people and passion for mental health awareness deeply impacted our community.

In May 2024, Mama Shirley traveled all the way from South Africa to attend and support Mhamia Foundation’s first Mental Health Awareness Summit.

Her wisdom, kindness, and dedication to healing conversations left a lasting mark on everyone she encountered.

Although we sadly lost her on 8th October 2025, her legacy continues to inspire us to keep creating awareness, offering hope, and building supportive communities.

This webinar will be a moment to:
🌿 Remember her life and impact
💬 Continue important mental health conversations
🤝 Unite communities through healing and awareness
Celebrate the love and compassion she shared.

Together, we remember. Together, we heal.

Happy World Book Day 📚

Today we celebrate the power of books—the ability to educate, inspire, and transform lives.

Books are more than just pages; they are tools for growth, knowledge, and healing. They open our minds, shape our thinking, and help us understand both the world around us and ourselves within it.

In a world where many young people are searching for direction, reading can be a powerful guide—building confidence, awareness, and even supporting mental well-being.

As we mark this day, let’s encourage a culture of reading in our communities, especially among children and youth.

Because when we read, we grow—and when we grow, we create change.

📖 Today, pick up a book. Tomorrow, change a life.

Excited to be speaking in an upcoming X Space on a topic that many of us silently struggle with:

“Can you truly love someone and still choose yourself?”

This conversation is so important because many people lose themselves while trying to love others.

We’ll be exploring how to balance love, self-worth, boundaries, and mental well-being.

If you’ve ever felt torn between loving someone and protecting your peace, this space is for you.

Looking forward to sharing, learning, and having an open conversation together.

Sometimes when we dream, we don’t clearly see where the journey will take us. We just hold onto a vision, take small steps, and trust the process.

That’s how it has been with Mhamia Foundation. What once felt like just a dream—an idea to create awareness, support others, and speak about mental health—today feels like it’s slowly becoming a reality.

There are moments I pause and reflect, and it truly feels like a dream come true. Not because everything is perfect, but because lives are being touched, conversations are starting, and hope is being created.

This journey hasn’t been easy, but it has been meaningful.

And it reminds me that sometimes, you don’t need to see the whole path—you just need to believe in the purpose.

We keep going. We keep growing. We keep creating impact.

World Bipolar Day | MHAMIA Foundation

Today, we stand in solidarity with individuals living with bipolar disorder and their loved ones.

Bipolar disorder is more than mood swings—it is a real mental health condition that affects how people feel, think, and function in their daily lives. Yet, many continue to suffer in silence due to stigma, misunderstanding, and lack of support.

At MHAMIA Foundation, we believe in creating safe spaces where conversations around mental health are normalized, and everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.

This day is a reminder that compassion, awareness, and education can change lives.
Let’s choose empathy over judgment.
Let’s listen without assumptions.
Let’s support without stigma.

Together, we can build a community where no one feels alone in their journey. # awareness

A heartfelt thank you to Rotaract Avance International University for inviting me to speak to the incredible young people about mental health and mental illness awareness.

It was truly inspiring to engage with such vibrant, thoughtful, and courageous youth who are ready to have open conversations about healing, self-care, and breaking the stigma.

These discussions matter — especially now more than ever.
Mental health is not a weakness. Seeking help is not shameful. And every young person deserves a safe space to be heard and supported.

Thank you for the warm welcome, the energy, and the meaningful dialogue. Together, we continue to create awareness, inspire hope, and build a mentally healthier generation.

At MHAMIA Foundation (Mental Health & Mental Illness Awareness Foundation), moments of learning and reflection with children always remind us why our work matters so deeply.

Yesterday, we held a beautiful reading session of “Jack and Walter – New House Nerves.” 📖

Together, we explored powerful lessons about:
• Making friends who understand our feelings
• Being kind and patient with each other
• Understanding that it’s okay to feel scared when change comes

The children openly shared their thoughts about moving to new places, starting new schools, and facing unfamiliar situations.
What stood out most was this simple but powerful truth:

Sometimes it is completely okay to be scared when change comes our way.
Change can feel overwhelming. It can make our hearts beat faster. It can make us unsure. But we also learned that change is seasonal — it does not last forever.
What matters most is choosing to keep a positive mind when it happens and supporting one another through it.

These conversations are exactly why mental health education in children is so important. When we teach emotional awareness early, we help build resilient, compassionate communities for tomorrow.

A big thank you to the Author for creating such a meaningful story that helps children understand their emotions and feel less alone. Your work is shaping young hearts in powerful ways.
