Happy Independence Day, Uganda! 🇺🇬
As we celebrate our nation’s journey of freedom and growth, we’re reminded that every great nation begins with how we nurture its youngest hearts and minds.
At EYFU, we honor the caregivers, teachers, and parents who invest daily in Uganda’s future our children. Together, we are shaping a freer, fairer, and brighter Uganda, one child at a time.

🎉 We showed up for the future.

Early Years Foundation Uganda was honored to take part in the Mama Tendo Parenting Symposium today focusing on parental involvement, s*x education, and children’s wellbeing.

The presence of the First Lady of Uganda and Minister of Education and Sports reminded us how vital early childhood care is to national development.

We're proud to keep raising the bar for young children, families, and the ECD workforce. 💛

🌿 This Week, We Begin.
We’ve officially kicked off the Nurturing Hearts, Growing Minds project with a training for community leaders from Nakawa, Kalerwe, Masanafu, and Kamwokya.
These leaders will play a key role in supporting caregiver well-being across their communities.

📍 Day 1 Focus: Laying the Foundation
We started with self-awareness and emotional well-being recognizing that caring for others begins with caring for ourselves. The conversations were honest, powerful, and full of purpose.

This is how change begins. 💛

📍 LIVE from Entebbe: Strengthening ECD Center Leadership

Today, our team is at St. John’s Community ECD Entebbe, conducting a high-impact training for the Centre Management Committee under the School of Practical ECD program.
This matter because great schools aren’t built by teachers alone, they thrive on strong, informed leadership behind the scenes.

Through this training, we’re equipping the school committee with skills in:✅ Governance & accountability,✅ Financial oversight,✅ Compliance & safety,✅ Strategic decision-making,✅ Supporting quality teaching & learning

This is not just about improving one school, it's about raising the bar for Early Childhood Care and Eduction in Uganda and beyond.🌍 When centre leaders grow, entire communities benefit and every child stands a better chance at thriving.

👏🏽 Hats off to St. John’s for being part of the movement to transform ECD from the ground up.

🌟💻 Digital skills aren’t just for offices, they belong in ECD classrooms too.

💡 *Digital Tip for ECD Teachers:*
Start small: Use a tablet or smartphone to play short educational videos, songs, or stories during class time. Visual and audio tools help children learn letters, numbers, songs, or simple concepts in a fun way! 🎵📱

This simple step can make learning more engaging and help teachers build confidence using digital approaches every day.

Digital classrooms grow curious minds.

🤝 EYFU Joins the National ECD Movement! 🌱

Today, we were honored to be part of a landmark moment in Uganda’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) journey!

The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sports, hosted the first-ever meeting of the Network for Early Childhood Development Actors Uganda (NECDA) and Early Years Foundation Uganda (EYFU) was proud to be at the table.

Together with other ECD stakeholders, we reviewed the NECDA Constitution, Terms of Reference, and contributed to shaping its leadership. This marks the beginning of a stronger, united voice for ECD in Uganda, a time of networking, collective growth, and shared purpose.

We are excited about this journey and remain committed to ensuring that every child thrives and every ECD actor is empowered.

🎉 A Proud Milestone for Early Years Foundation Uganda
We officially graduated Cohort One of our School of Practical ECD Program and what a joyful, meaningful celebration it was! 🎓✨ It reflected the dedication of passionate ECD practitioners, school and center owners who have committed to growing professionally, shaping young minds, and strengthening the early learning space in Uganda.

📘 The School of Practical ECD is a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program designed for ECCE teachers, school leaders, and center owners both in-service and pre-service who are eager to sharpen their knowledge, systems, and day-to-day practice. Spanning 10 months and built on research-based, contextually relevant learning, the program is structured around 10 transformative modules that tackle the real challenges and opportunities within early years education.

Now, Cohort Two is enrolling, and we’re calling all passionate educators, changemakers, and visionaries in ECD. Your journey of practical learning, mentorship, and growth starts here.
