After completing ex*****on of all activities in accordance with the project document, ESMV II project held a closing ceremony today the 29th. October.2023 at Bbongole maize milling center- Mpigi district. The ceremony was graced by Country Directors for KOICA and Goodneighbors international, Officials from MLoG, MFPED, MGLSD, Mityana and Mpigi district Officials and community members of Bbongole, Bukooba and Kikandwa Parishes.

ESMV II project started a Farmer Field School program last year where elven (11) maize farmer groups from Bbongole Parish in Mpigi District, Kikandwa and Bukooba Parish were introduced and trained in to practical agronomical practices of maize production starting from land preparation to post harvest handling and marketing.
Upon completion of the training program, 255 farmers were awarded certicates of completion during the graduation ceremony that took place on 26th and 27th of June 2023 in Mpigi and Mityana district.

Judith Nabakooba paid a courtsey visit to Ssekanyonyi Sibcounty-Bukooba Parish with the aim of monitoring activities done by KOICA-ESMV II project. She was accompanied by Mityana RDC, Ssekanyonyi Subcounty Chairperson and Councillors from this Parish as broadcasted in the news on the link attarched below;

Coffee production in Bukooba parish has increased greatly this year. The farmers attribute this to the many trainings in coffee agronomical practices including a Farmer Field School conducted by ESMV project. During these trainings, it was realised that farmers are challenged by lack of access to improved seedlings and were supported with coffee seedlings of improved variety ( KR- Lines) and artificial fertilizers.
The farmers of Bukooba village have adopted the technologies and have properly utilised the inputs received from ESMV Project and has greatly improved on coffee production.

Lwaweebwa coffee farmers Association produces coffee seedlings of Kituuza Resistant(KR) lines in Bukasa parish ESMV 1 model village.Tittle.
The group members participated in the various Farmer Field School(FFS) training at the coffee demonstration garden for KR lines that was established by ESMV II project for coffee farmers to learn the good Agronomic practices and good coffee varieties to plant.
Additionally,ESMV II supported the Association with a coffee mother garden with different KR lines resistant to coffee wilt disease,a coffee nursary with a capacity of 40,000 coffee seedlings and a coffee storage structure and coffee farmers were trained on how to propagate from the mother garden using coffee cuttings.
Today farmers did the sorting of the coffee seedlings from the cages for hardening off to enable the seedlings withstand the environmental conditions with the guidence of the ESMV project facilitator.
