Udaan Africa Foundation (UAF) working in the areas of community empowerment and environmental protection launched a cleaning drive in slums at Naguru II Parish on March 18, 2023.
About two hundred volunteers led by Hon,Mayor of Nakawa Division Paul Mugambe, Women Councillor of Naguru 2 A Ms. Mbabazi Nusura, and Piyali Chowdhary Director UAF along with volunteers from Indian community, cleaned the slums and it's surroundings. The group motivated the community to join them in the cleaning drive.
A public event was held after the cleaning drive at Naguru Katali Primary School to create awareness of cleanliness and protection of Environment. High Commissioner of India H.E. Ajay Kumar was the Chief Guest in the event. Parliament Members Hon Fred Oppolot and MP Senyonyi along with Diso spoke on the occasion along with other dignitaries. His worship Mayor , the chief cleaner thanked UAF for their unique initiative which was well received by the public in that area.
Invited guests also planted several trees to on the occasion.
