Dear Friends All over the world
Warm greetings from Uganda.
I write to you on behalf of Suubi Vulnerable Children and Women organization,a grassroots organization working in rural communities where poverty quietly steals childhood, dignity, and opportunity—especially from girls and young children.
In the communities we serve, menstruation is not just a health issue; it is a crisis of dignity and survival. Many young girls lack access to basic sanitary products. With no alternatives, some are forced to use sand, old rags, or unsafe materials during their menstrual cycles. Others, out of desperation, are coerced into sexual relationships with older men simply to obtain money for pads for the next month. This exposes them to early pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, trauma, and lifelong vulnerability.
As a result, many girls drop out of school at a very tender age, not because they lack intelligence or ambition, but because poverty denies them the most necessities.
At the same time, young boys as young as five years old drop out of school to cut sugarcane or engage in manual labor, attempting to earn money for school fees, books, or food. Childhood is replaced with survival. Education is replaced with exhaustion.
Suubi Vulnerable Children and Women organization was formed to confront these realities head-on. We work to:
Provide menstrual hygiene support and education for girls
Keep children in school through basic scholastic and welfare support
Protect children from exploitation and early labor
Empower women and caregivers to build sustainable livelihoods
However, our impact is limited by severe financial constraints. The need is overwhelming, and the resources available to us are far too small.
We humbly reach out to different donors explore possible partnership or financial support to help us:
Restore dignity to menstruating girls
Protect children from exploitation
Keep young girls and boys in school
Break the cycle of poverty in rural African communities
Your support would not only provide material assistance—it would restore hope, protect childhood, and give girls the freedom to grow, learn, and dream without fear.
We would be deeply grateful for the opportunity to share more about our work, our communities, and how your support could create lasting change.
Thank you for your compassion and commitment to vulnerable populations worldwide.
With hope and respect,
Phiona Babirye
