The Story: A Team Worth Investing In*

Every nation places its faith in a team trusting that with the right training, the right tools, and the right support, that team will rise to greatness. At the Nabweru Community Initiative for Youth Empowerment (NCIYE), we believe the same is true for Uganda's youth.

In Wakiso District, hundreds of young people carry extraordinary potential but lack the resources to develop it. Through our Fashion & Tailoring program, we take that potential and give it direction teaching design, cutting, and sewing skills that turn unemployed youth into skilled entrepreneurs who can earn a living and support their families.

This is not charity. It is an investment in human potential, in dignity, and in a generation of Ugandan youth ready to build their own futures. Just as a team's success depends on the belief placed in it, our youth's success depends on partners like you who choose to believe in them too.

From Trainee to Professional: Phiona's Story 💇🏾‍♀️
When Phiona Nanono walked through our doors, she had a dream but no skill to build on. Today, she's a confident, professional hairdresser running her own business trained from scratch by Nabweru Community Initiative for Youth Empowerment (NCIYE) in hairdressing and hair braiding.

In her own words, Phiona shares how the skills she gained gave her financial freedom and independence. She's not stopping there she now hopes to pass on her knowledge to other young people and create jobs of her own.

This is what empowerment looks like. One skill, one trainee, one ripple of change at a time. 💛

This month, I want to spotlight the work of Baguma Benson, Founder and Executive Director of the Nabweru Community Initiative for Youth Empowerment (NCIYE) in Uganda.
NCIYE is a community-led organization dedicated to creating a society where vulnerable children and youth can realize their rights and meet their basic needs — not through external intervention, but through locally driven, sustainable solutions.
