From a small Bottle of Perfume to 325,000 Futures Changed

The Career Chapter Africa Story

In 2015, four friends had a dream: No young Ugandan should be left behind because they didn’t know what was possible.

We started Career Chapter Africa with nothing but passion and a belief that every young person deserves quality career guidance, mentorship, and skills to build a life they are truly proud of.

But dreams don’t run on passion alone. The hardest part wasn’t the work , it was the funding. Without resources, we could not reach the students who needed us most.
So we got creative and started a StartUp concept Tinophin Perfumes, a line of small, handcrafted oil perfumes with different names writen on to the bottles with supermarket stickers with green colour representing male scents then pink stickers representing female scents.

It was simple:
☆Buy one bottle, you sponsor a young person’s career growth session.
☆Buy five or more, you keep an entire Career Chapter Africa program running for a month.

Friends, family, and strangers started buying. Not just for the scent, but for the story behind it. Every perfume sold went straight into running the programs , paying for internet data, buying 7 laptops for digital training, covering transport costs for our team , and facilitation for trainers.

By 2017, after serving over 400 clients, we rebranded.
We gave each perfume its own name and identity. That change built more trust and made the products easier to recommend, and it directly boosted purchases to where we are today.

How your purchase created impact:
6ml roll-on bottle: Started at 8,000 UGX, now 10,000 UGX — sponsored one student’s career guidance session
30ml bottle: 35,000 UGX — supported a half day of skills training
50ml bottle: 50,000 UGX — helped place one young person into an apprenticeship
100ml bottle: 150,000 UGX — funded a week of mentorship and job-readiness training for a group of youth

10 years later, that fundraising choice has changed lives across borders:

i) 325,000+ young Ugandans have been mentored and guided across the Mt. Rwenzori region, Mt. Elgon region, Busoga areas, Mbarara, Kampala, Wakiso,Mukono Districts.
ii) 2,750 youth have been skilled in 12 trades from Enterprenuship ,technology, computer aided designs , plumbing, electrical, mechanical engineering , interior designs , Bakery, Art and craft , Wood work , cosmetology and Beauty etc.
iii) 350+ young people have been placed into jobs and apprenticeships.
Iv) over 50 youths are now running their own businesses, creating jobs for others
v)1200 refugees have acquired digital training, english language and Enterprenuership skills.
Vi) About 556 Schools , 5 universities, 56 communities have been reached.

Career Chapter Africa didn’t stop at Uganda. We traveled to Addis Ababa- Ethiopia, Nairobi- Kenya, Kigali-Rwanda and Der El Salaam -Tanzania, spreading skills, sharing knowledge, working to change perceptions about social growth and work relations to reduce unemployment Amongst youths.

We didn’t do it alone. Along the way, partners like Uganda Manufacturers Association, Bottle Q Co Ltd - Sino Truck, Kiri Soda, Radio one / Akabozi kubiri, NBS tv, The Aleph ,Stanbic Bank, Makerere University ,Daily Monitor, Kids Modeling Academy , Sesdo Investment, Voop Ltd, Allied Scale Ltd, the Ministry of Health, Ruth Confectionery, Chrispix Photography and the Ministry of Education stood with us to scale the impact.
