As part of this term's activities under the Poetry X Hunger Clubs, we are delighted to share that the Poetry X Hunger Club at Nkanda Secondary School, Kenya, has successfully established its vegetable nursery bed.

This marks an important step in combining creativity, agriculture, and practical learning as students take an active role in growing and managing their own vegetable enterprise. Through such initiatives, young people gain hands-on experience, develop agribusiness skills, and strengthen their understanding of food systems and sustainable agriculture.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the school's Agriculture Teacher and Club Patron, Mr. Wanda Dewdrops for his dedication and commitment to nurturing these young agricultural champions.

We look forward to seeing the nursery flourish and the positive impact it will have on both the students, and the wider school community.

Term Two Club Activities Officially Ready.

As schools prepare to resume for Term Two, we are excited to share the activities for the Poetry X Hunger Clubs Program under the AaP agri-food Initiative

We extend our sincere appreciation to the learners, Club Patrons, Agriculture Teachers, school administrators, and partners who embraced and supported last term’s activities. It has been truly inspiring to witness learners actively advancing in creativity, leadership, practical agriculture, teamwork, and advocacy for food and agriculture within their schools and communities.

This term, the program will continue integrating project-based learning of agriculture, poetry and creative expression, leadership, and agri-entrepreneurship learning to empower young people with practical and transformative skills and opportunities to succeed in food and agribusiness.

By the end of the term, students are expected to:
• Gain inspiration and basic practical skills in food, agribusiness, and innovation in agriculture
• Build leadership and teamwork skills
• Gain creative expression and advocacy skills through poetry and art

The official Term Two Club Activities is now ready and available on our website for download and preparation ahead of the school reopening. You can as well access the document through this link to the google drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LiyhuqXr8YkMbAdJ87GPx6FofYX0Z8-t/view?usp=drivesdk

Earlier today, our team had the privilege of visiting one of our youth agribusiness initiatives — the Eden Youth Agribusiness Group — and meeting their team leader, Nsambu Jordan Kyeyune.

What we witnessed went far beyond farming; it was a compelling demonstration of how project-based learning can translate into real, measurable impact.
Nsambu and his team are alumni of our school-based Poetry X Hunger Clubs programing, where they not only used creative expression to speak out against hunger, but also built practical skills in food and agribusiness. Today, they are applying those skills beyond the classroom — establishing a sustainable agribusiness, creating meaningful economic opportunities for themselves.

The group has secured ready market for their produce, supplying the tomatoes directly to their school. This is more than a business transaction — it is a full-circle model that highlights the critical role schools can play in supporting youth agri-food ventures through the predictable and reliable school meals market.

This is the transformation we envision — where young people move from learning, to doing, to earning supported by their schools and the local community.

We are tackling Uganda's pressing youth unemployment and school meals challenge head-on.

With over 400,000 young Ugandans entering the job market annually, and only 10% securing formal sector jobs, we're initiating impactful solutions in Food and Agribusiness.

Our focus: To transform school meals to enable food safety while empowering youth and local communities in food and agribusiness with predictable market for income generation and jobs creation.
