the representative of SOYAN proudly marks the successful completion of the Regional Youth Training on Negotiation and Intercultural Communication, represented by our delegate in Nairobi.

Over three days at IPSTC, Karen, our representative joined 24 young peacebuilders from across the Horn of Africa to strengthen practical skills in negotiation and cross-cultural dialogue, while building meaningful regional connections.

We extend our sincere appreciation to International Centre for Peace, Human Rights and Development - IPHRD Africa and the Clingendael Institute for providing this valuable capacity-building opportunity and for creating a platform that brings youth voices to the forefront of peacebuilding efforts.

SOYAN INITIATIVE remains committed to investing in youth leadership as a driver of peace, inclusion, and long-term stability in the region.

SOYAN INITIATIVE celebrates our Co-Director Abdullahi Mohamed Abdi on his selection for the Regional Youth Training on Negotiation and Intercultural Communication in Nairobi (27–29 April 2026).

Organized by International Centre for Peace, Human Rights and Development - IPHRD Africa with support from the Clingendael institute, this program brings together 24 young peacebuilders from across the Horn of Africa at IPSTC, Karen.

We are committed to investing in youth leadership for peace and development. Abdullahi's participation is a step forward in that mission.

SOYAN INITIATIVE has successfully completed a two-day staff capacity building training in Finance and Procurement Systems, held from Saturday 31st January to Sunday 1st February.

The training was professionally facilitated by Amatu Consult, focusing on strengthening our team’s knowledge and practical skills in financial management, procurement procedures, accountability, and compliance. This has significantly enhanced our internal systems and operational efficiency.

We sincerely appreciate the generous support of our donor, the Global Whole Being Fund, whose continued investment in organizational development is enabling SOYAN INITIATIVE to build strong, transparent, and sustainable systems.

This training marks an important step in strengthening our institutional capacity and ensuring responsible management of resources as we continue serving refugees and host community youth.

Today marked a productive milestone for the SOYAN team as we successfully completed Session One of our Organizational Development and Capacity Building training.

This session focused on strengthening our internal systems, leadership structures, and strategic direction laying a strong foundation for sustainable growth and improved service delivery to refugee and host community youth.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our donor, the Global Whole Being Fund, whose generous support is making this transformation possible. Their commitment to empowering refugee-led organizations is truly enabling us to build stronger, more resilient structures for long-term impact.

We had the honor of engaging in an insightful conversation with Senior Mawa, whose vast knowledge and experience in organizational development provided us with valuable guidance. His reflections reminded us of the importance of strong systems, accountability, and vision in shaping impactful organizations.

Through our collaboration with Amatu Consult Ltd., and with the generous support of the Global Whole Being Fund, SOYAN is taking important steps to strengthen its institutional capacity. This process is not just about internal growth, it is about building a sustainable platform where refugee and host community youth can thrive, lead, and transform their communities.

At SOYAN, we believe that effective organizational development is the backbone of lasting impact. With stronger structures, clearer strategies, and empowered leadership, we are better positioned to advance our mission: To provide capacity development services to refugee youth and their host communities to unlock their potential for social cohension and inclusive development through integrated programmes.

on 21st June, we gathered to stand in solidarity with a remarkable group of individuals who have shown unparalleled strength and resilience in the face of unimaginable hardship.

We stand together to acknowledge humanity, dignity, and the right to seek safety and a better life.

Refugees are not just statistics or news headlines; they are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, daughters, and sons. They are people who have been forced to flee their homes, leaving behind everything they know and love. They are people who have faced violence, persecution, and trauma. They are people who have been displaced, marginalized, and forgotten.

We believe that every person deserves a safe haven, a place to call home, and a chance to rebuild their life with dignity. We believe that every person deserves access to education, healthcare, and opportunities to thrive. We believe that every person deserves to be treated with respect, kindness, and compassion.

So let us stand in solidarity with refugees and work towards a world that is more just, more compassionate, and more humane. A world where no one is forced to flee their home, where everyone has a place to belong, and where everyone can live with dignity and respect.
