Our Story
Acrobatics Circus Troupe (ACT) is a community-based organization located in Katwe, the largest slum in Kampala, Uganda. We use acrobatics to empower the children in Katwe and to keep them away from the drugs, alcohol, gangs and violence that are prevalent in their community. We have a small training ground that serves as a safe space for many of our children, a place where they can be after school or on the weekends - where they know they will be welcomed and supported. We currently assist around 150 children by providing them with clothes, food and school supplies. We’ve also been able to get 10 children back into school by finding sponsors for their tuition.
As our athletes grow up, we look for ways to economically support them through coaching opportunities and performances. We have developed numerous talented athletes who have traveled around Uganda and internationally. Most recently, members of our Senior Team travel to China to spend the summer performing and earning an income.
