Everyone involved with UWRF is expected to follow the core values of our sport:

Enjoyment: We want everyone who includes wheelchair rugby in their lives, whether as a player, a member of staff, an official, or a volunteer, to love everything about the sport: the

excitement, its contact, and the feeling of belonging to a community. Excellence: Everyone involved will strive to be the best at everything they do. Trust: The wheelchair rugby family believes in honesty, integrity, and fair play. Respect: People involved with the game and all who come into contact with the sport have respect for one another. Inclusiveness: Wheelchair rugby is open to anyone who shares our values of the sport. People will help each other to reach their goals: treating them fairly and equally. Teamwork: All those in wheelchair rugby are part of a team and part of the wheelchair rugby family. Our values are reflected in our Codes of Conduct โ€“ standards of behavior all involved with the sport in Uganda are expected to display: Board Members, Employees, Members, and volunteers. We will only work with partners who respect our values and demonstrate a commitment to them.

History made in Gulu City!

On 26th April 2026, the Uganda Wheelchair Rugby Foundation signed an MoU with Ability Sports Africa to expand wheelchair rugby opportunities in Northern Uganda.

Right after the signing, we launched the first-ever wheelchair rugby training in Gulu, welcoming many enthusiastic athletes with disabilities.

This partnership is the beginning of building regional clubs, identifying talent, and creating pathways for athletes to compete nationally.

We believe sport has the power to empower, include, and transform lives.

Now we call upon partners, donors, and supporters to help us provide equipment and expand these opportunities.

Together, we are building an inclusive future for wheelchair rugby in Uganda.

Todayโ€™s Thursday training reminded us why we never give up.

Despite the rain, transport challenges, and the ongoing struggle of moving our rugby chairs and equipment from the Paralympic Committee stores to Makerere, seven committed athletes showed up, pushed through, and trained with full energy and spirit ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ

Thatโ€™s what Uganda Wheelchair Rugby Federation is all about โ€” resilience, passion, and unity.

Weโ€™re especially grateful for the amazing community around Makerere University who continue to support and cheer us on. Your presence matters more than you know ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ

As we prepare for the first-ever Wheelchair Rugby Championship (3rdโ€“7th August 2026), we are calling on everyone who believes in inclusive sports to support us.

๐Ÿ‘‰ We urgently need:
โ€ข Support with transport for our equipment
โ€ข Maintenance for our rugby chairs
โ€ข Spare parts & accessories (especially gloves โ€“ they wear out fast!)

Every small contribution counts.

๐Ÿ“… Letโ€™s build together towards something historic.

A small ball with a big impact.

Late last year, the Uganda Wheelchair Rugby community received 10 official Wheelchair Rugby balls from the generous support of Kathy Newman from the global development team at World Wheelchair Rugby.

These balls have been carefully kept in storage and will now play an important role as we prepare for our upcoming Wheelchair Rugby Championship this August.

For us, every piece of equipment represents opportunity โ€” opportunity for athletes with disabilities in Uganda to train, compete, and grow the sport.

We are grateful to World Wheelchair Rugby for standing with us as we continue building the future of adaptive sports in Uganda.

Kindly support our Go fund me campaign to help make wheelchair rugby better in Uganda the link is in the Bio

The journey continues. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฟ

Equipment matters!

Last year we received 10 official Wheelchair Rugby balls thanks to support from World Wheelchair Rugby.

They have been safely stored and will now be used as we prepare for our August Championship.

A rugby chair can change a life.
But first, we need a place to keep it.

In Uganda, wheelchair rugby is more than just a sport.
It is freedom, confidence, and community for athletes with disabilities who refuse to let barriers define them.

Every week, our players come to training ready to push harder, play stronger, and dream bigger.

But we face a challenge many people never see.

Our rugby wheelchairs and equipment have no permanent storage space near the training ground. This makes it difficult for athletes to train consistently and limits how many people can join the sport.

So we decided to take action.

We launched a GoFundMe fundraiser running until August 2026 with one clear mission:

๐Ÿ“ฆ To secure a shipping container that will safely store our wheelchair rugby equipment and make training more accessible for our athletes.

This container will help us:
Train more regularly
Protect our equipment
Welcome more athletes
Grow wheelchair rugby in Uganda

To everyone who has already donated, thank you. Your generosity is already helping us move forward.

And to everyone reading this:

โค๏ธ If you can donate, your support will make a real difference.
๐Ÿ” If you cannot donate today, please share this fundraiser with your friends and networks.

Because sometimes building a sport doesnโ€™t start with a stadium.

Sometimes it starts with a small containerโ€ฆ and a big community that believes in inclusion.

Together, we can make this happen.

๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ Strong. Brave. Unstoppable.

Women are breaking barriers every day โ€” on the field, in sports, and in life. At Uganda Wheelchair Rugby Federation, weโ€™re proud to stand with every woman and girl with a disability who dares to dream big.

Wheelchair rugby isnโ€™t just a sport โ€” itโ€™s a statement: โ€œYou belong. You can lead. You can shine.โ€ ๐ŸŒŸ

To the women pushing limits, challenging stereotypes, and inspiring everyone around them: we see you, we celebrate you, and we play with you.

Letโ€™s continue building a world where sports are truly for everyone. ๐Ÿ’œ

Wheelchair Rugby Uganda is back in action!

Our first highlight training of February brought incredible energy as two clubs โ€” Wakiso Wheelchair Rugby Club and Kampala Wheelchair Rugby Club โ€” came together for intense Thursday training at Makerere University grounds.

From player recruitment and talent identification to teamwork and skill building, the spirit on the court was powerful. New athletes joined, experienced players led the way, and the community behind wheelchair rugby in Uganda continues to grow stronger every week.

All this preparation is leading us toward a historic moment โ€” the first-ever Uganda Wheelchair Rugby Championship!
