Children who witness domestic violence between their parents are at a greater risk of becoming violent in their future relationships.

This in turn creates an endless cycle of senseless violence and the scourge continues. However, collectively we can put an end to it. Speak out. Say no to GBV.

Karamoja is also one of the best places to visit in Uganda
The mountains are an exciting alternative to the more strenuous climbs in East Africa with many of the same attractions, lower elevation and requires no special equipment or technical experience.

The experience of climbing Karamoja’s mountains is a mix of rich encounters with the Uganda’s highland people, breath taking views and unique sights along the trails and unique campsites where you can enjoy the sunset, the stars and sunrise over the planes of Karamoja.

Women have difficulty feeding and breastfeeding children the recommended 8-10 times a day because they are not lactating due to low nutritional intake.

Mothers struggle to provide nutritionally balanced meals for their families when food is scarce and many have had to migrate in search of work and food

In a place such as Karamoja where education, especially to the girl child is not a priority, any helping hand is welcome.
Literacy rates in the Karamoja region are some of the lowest in the country, the overall literacy rate for Karamoja stands at only 25 per cent, compared to 94 per cent in Kampala.

Traditional practices and culture that encourage young boys to stay at home to look after animals and for girls to prepare themselves for marriage are the biggest contributing factors to the region’s low literacy levels.

The main staple food of the Karamojong people is the highly nutritious cereal grain sorghum. In their homesteads, they store what they grow in granaries for up to three years.
But for the past 2-3 years, this has not been possible because of climate change

They now do one main meal of the day, which is served after sunset. Most of time it will be "posho", a stiff porridge out of sorghum, served with bush greens and groundnut paste.
