UIPE SIGNS AN MOU WITH CIArb–UGANDA
Today the 14th August 2026, UIPE and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) Uganda Chapter have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in arbitration, adjudication, dispute avoidance and resolution within the engineering and construction sectors.
The MoU was signed by UIPE President Eng. Peterson Mwesiga (FCIArb) on behalf of UIPE and Chairman CIArb-Uganda, Mr. David Kaggwa (FCIArb) on behalf of CIArb.
The key areas of collaboration include:
1. Professional pathway training in adjudication and arbitration.
2. Joint CPDs, workshops, seminars, webinars and conferences.
3. Capacity building for engineers in construction dispute management.
4. Knowledge sharing, research and policy advocacy on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
5. Joint publicity and promotion of relevant programmes.
Under the MoU, CIArb will provide accredited trainers, develop training content and oversee programme delivery, while UIPE will mobilise participants, provide institutional support, publicise programmes and award CPD points where applicable.
The partnership is expected to enhance engineers’ professional competence and strengthen the prevention and timely resolution of disputes in Uganda.
