"Hope Beyond the Greens - It Is Possible" Gives Watoto Children a Chance at Golf
Family, we can't keep calm!
Last Saturday marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Watoto mothers, their children, and the surrounding communities, as we officially launched "Hope Beyond the Greens – It Is Possible", an initiative that introduces young people to the game of golf who may never have imagined themselves stepping onto a golf course.
This opportunity has been made possible through a generous partnership between Uganda Golf Club (UGC), the Uganda Professional Golfers Association (UPGA), and the Deo Akope Foundation, who are providing coaching, mentorship, and access to the game at no cost to our children and mothers! Together, they are helping make golf accessible to children who may never have had the chance to play.
Through this initiative, 12 Watoto children have begun a special golf camp in preparation for the Watoto Golf Tournament 2026, where they will play in the tournament for the very first time.
The children will train every Saturday and Sunday at Uganda Golf Club, developing not only their golfing skills but also values such as discipline, integrity, confidence, resilience, and focus.
Golf is often perceived as a sport for the privileged, but this initiative is about creating opportunities, nurturing potential, and opening doors for children regardless of their background. It is a powerful example of what can happen when communities come together to invest in the next generation.
