Guma Project, Where a Stitch Becomes a Livelihood.
At Latek Stay Alliance Uganda, the Guma Project is changing that story-one reusable sanitary pad at a time.
What starts with a sewing machine becomes so much more than a skill. We equip young women with the knowledge to produce high-quality reusable sanitary pads and the confidence to market and sell them to schools, NGOs, and communities.
The impact
✨ Young women earn an income and build sustainable livelihoods.
✨ Schoolgirls access affordable, reusable menstrual products.
✨ Communities break the silence and stigma around menstruation.
✨ Women lead a growing social enterprise that creates both impact and opportunity.
Every pad made helps a girl stay in school.
Every sale empowers a young woman.
Every stitch is a step toward dignity, confidence and economic independence.
Together, we are not just making reusable pads—we are creating opportunities, restoring dignity, and empowering the next generation of women leaders.
This has been done through our implementing Youth Environment Service and our lead distributor menstrual care, partner with us in improving livelihoods.

Sustainable impact requires more than project funding—it requires organizations that can generate income, adapt, and thrive long after donor support ends.

That’s why Latek Stay Alliance Uganda recently equipped its implementing partners with practical skills on transforming NGOs and CBOs into Social Enterprises. With valuable insights from Capital Solutions and expert guidance from Dr. Joyce Tamale (FCCA, CPA), participants explored how to build ventures that create both social impact and financial sustainability.

💡 Key areas covered:
✔️ Mindset Shift – Moving from dependency to sustainability
✔️ Financial Resilience – Creating income streams beyond donor funding
✔️ Value Proposition – Demonstrating clear value to communities, partners, and investors
✔️ Social Enterprise Management – Building ventures that deliver lasting impact

To our partners, thank you for your commitment, participation, and willingness to build organizations that don't just deliver projects—but create lasting change.

Volunteer Spotlight, Meet the People Driving Change
This is Samuel, our Agroforestry project Volunteer.
Samuel spends his week working closely with project officers to promote climate-smart agriculture and agroforestry practices that improve productivity, soil health, and environmental sustainability.
His work supports smallholder farmers to increase yields, build resilience, and secure sustainable livelihoods that extend far beyond a single harvest.
3 months into his volunteer role, Samuel is already making a tangible impact. Through his support to agroforestry interventions, 3 implementing partners are reporting healthier seedling growth, improved tree survival rates and a noticeable reduction in soil erosion, contributing to more resilient and sustainable farming systems.

At Latek Stay Alliance Uganda , we believe that development is most effective when it is targeted, measurable, and holistic. Today, we are spotlighting our dynamic partner Appco Uganda , with whom we are delivering significant results for smallholder farmers.
Our collaboration is anchored by our Organic Cereal projects- OC #5, OC #6, and OC #8. Through these initiatives, we are working hand-in-hand with farmers to:
• Increase Household Income: Implementing strategies that turn smallholder agriculture into a reliable, profit-generating business.
• Ensure Food Security: Strengthening production cycles to guarantee stable, healthy food sources for rural households.
• Invest in the Future through Parental Education: We recognize that long-term resilience starts at home. Our partnership goes beyond the field, incorporating parental education to ensure that the economic gains from our projects translate into improved family well-being, nutrition, and education for the next generation.
By combining the structural support of the OC projects with the commitment of Appco Uganda , Latek Stay Alliance Uganda is fostering resilient communities that are equipped to thrive. We are proud of this alliance and remain committed to fighting poverty in Uganda.
