Empowering Out of School Adolescents Through Life Skills Training.

In partnership with Kalungu District Local Government and UNICEF, ACYP Uganda conducted transformative life skills training for out of school adolescents aged 10–17 years who face daily challenges affecting their well-being and future.

The program aimed to help these young people become adaptive and resilient citizens, equipped to navigate personal, social, economic, and environmental challenges. Over 20 sessions were held across Kyamulibwa, Lwabenge, and Lukaya Town Council, reaching 70 adolescents with practical skills to improve their well-being and inspire them to become agents of change in their communities.

Through this initiative, ACYP continues to create safe spaces where every young person can learn, grow, and thrive.

Building Sustainable Families Through Participation.

At ACYP Uganda, we believe that supporting a family toward sustainability begins with listening to every voice within that family.
Our participatory assessment approach ensures that caregivers and children are not just beneficiaries but active participants in shaping their own future.

Each family member has unique needs, dreams, and strengths. When everyone is part of the assessment and goal setting process, the case management plan becomes stronger, more realistic, and more sustainable.

This inclusion builds ownership and accountability, it strengthens family unity and communication, it helps identify practical solutions that work for everyone and it empowers children and caregivers to take part in achieving shared goals.

True transformation happens when families are not spoken for, but speak for themselves.

Together, we can build resilient families that thrive with dignity and purpose.

💔 Protecting Widows and Orphans from Property Grabbing.

In many communities, when a husband dies, the widow and children face a painful reality. Relatives step in to claim the property of the deceased.

This practice leaves families hopeless, landless, and sometimes homeless. Recently, a man passed away leaving behind eight children, the youngest only four months old. Voices of relatives were louder than the widow’s, ready to fight for what was never theirs.

Through our Home‑Based Community Support (HBCS) program, ACYP Uganda engaged all concerned parties to protect this vulnerable family and restore peace.

Culture and tradition should never be used to deny widows and orphans their right to security and dignity.

💔 Culture should never justify injustice.
💪 Together, we can challenge harmful practices and build communities that protect, not exploit, the vulnerable.

Celebrating the International Day of Child Play! 11 June.

At ACYP, we believe that every child deserves the joy of play especially those who may not have the same opportunities at home.

Our ACYP Centre is open Monday to Sunday, providing a safe, inclusive space where children can play, learn, and connect. Through play at ACYP, children:
• Build confidence and creativity
• Develop social skills and teamwork
• Strengthen emotional well-being
• Learn problem solving and resilience
Our play is not just fun but growth, learning, and protection. Let’s keep creating spaces where every child can laugh, explore, and thrive.

“No Girl Should Miss School Because of Her Period”

ACYP volunteers and young people’s leaders successfully completed a one day training in making reusable sanitary pads!

This initiative will now roll out to girls in both primary and secondary schools, equipping them with practical skills and knowledge on menstrual hygiene, dignity, and self care.

By empowering girls with reusable pads and proper hygiene education, we are working to reduce absenteeism, improve retention, and ensure every adolescent girl can learn with confidence and comfort.

Together, we are fighting period poverty and building a future where no girl is held back by her cycle.

💚 Keeping Children Safe and Meaningfully Engaged This Holiday.

As schools across Uganda close for the first term holiday, millions of children and young people have returned home to their families. This is a precious but also a challenging one time.

Many parents are busy with gardening and farming, and children often end up with little rest, limited supervision, and few meaningful activities to keep them safe and positively engaged. For adolescents, this can increase risks around protection, peer pressure, and unsafe environments.

At ACYP Uganda, we encourage families and communities to create safe spaces and involve children in activities that build skills, confidence, and responsibility:

•Home learning activities — reading, storytelling, simple research tasks
•Light household participation — not overworking, but helping in ways that build discipline
•Creative projects — drawing, music, crafts, gardening
•Sports and play — essential for health and emotional wellbeing
•Family conversations — strengthening trust and guidance

Every child deserves rest, protection, and opportunities to grow all the time and during holidays.

Let’s work together to ensure our children are safe, supported, and meaningfully engaged throughout this break.

Empowering Children Where They Are

At ACYP Uganda, we believe that every child deserves the chance to thrive and not just in school, but at home too.

Our home based approach ensures that children and young people receive the support they need wherever they are.
We work with families and communities to build a stable support system. A system that keeps children healthy, nourished, and safe from hunger.

Because when a child’s home is strong, their future becomes brighter.

Together, we’re creating environments where every child can grow with dignity and hope.

NO CHILD SHOULD GO HUNGRY.

At ACYP, we believe that no child should go hungry.
We work passionately to ensure families have access to seedlings, farm inputs, natural and artificial fertilizers and agricultural advisory services while empowering them to grow food and sustain their homes.

Every child deserves at least two meals a day, a chance to learn, and a life free from hunger.

Together, we can build communities where children and young people thrive healthy, strong, and full of hope.

🌐 International Girls in ICT Day –23rd-April-2026. A Story of Growth, Courage & Possibility

Today, as the world celebrates International Girls in ICT Day, we proudly honour one of our own - a girl who walked into ACYP at just 9 years old, full of curiosity and potential. Years later, she has grown into a confident young woman pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in ICT and Mathematics, now in her second year at university.

Her journey is a powerful reminder that when girls are supported, encouraged, and given opportunities, they rise and they lead.
Today, she serves as the Volunteer Coordinator at ACYP Uganda, guiding other young people with the same passion and determination she discovered here as a child.

Her story is not just a celebration, it is a message to every girl: Your dreams are valid. Your talent is needed. Your future in ICT is possible. At ACYP Uganda, we remain committed to creating pathways for girls to explore technology, build skills, and shape the digital world.

Happy International Girls in ICT Day!

Every Child Deserves a Chance to Succeed

At ACYP Uganda, we believe that every child and young person deserves a chance to succeed, whether they are academically gifted or thrive through hands on, practical skills.

This is why we support learners in mainstream schools and colleges, while also creating opportunities for out of school young people through apprenticeships and vocational pathways.

Every young person has potential. Every young person has talent. And every young person deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a meaningful future.

At ACYP, we walk with them and no one is left behind.
