Earlier today, the CommonGround Project Chief of Party concluded a 2-day field monitoring visit to project implementation areas under Caritas Kabale Diocese. Areas visited included; Omukyisaama-Rushebeya-Rwabigyere and Kireire-Ahakasikano in Kaharo Subcounty, Kariko and Rwakanyweire communities in Kitumba Subcounty and Ikumba-Muzirante and Buganda-Kashekyera in Hamurwa Subcounty.
The visit comes at a time when Caritas, through the CommonGround Project, has made tremendous progress in building resilient communities through watershed management, improved marketing, and climate-resilient farming.

The project supports communities using the , which helps community members reflect on their situation by identifying challenges at household and community level, and then developing solutions and action plans to achieve their aspirations. Through PIP, communities have restored degraded sites by digging trenches and stabilizing them with grass to control runoff, established integrated plot plans, carried out collective work on community roads to improve access, and established community wells to ensure access to clean and safe water. Other activities include promotion of environmental education in selected schools, establishment of tree nursery beds in communities to raise trees for planting on restoration sites, offering kits to savings groups, linking groups to SACCOs, and conducting trainings on income generating activities and financial literacy, among others.

The CommonGround Project is being implemented in the Kigezi Sub-region by Caritas Kabale Diocese through ISSD Uganda , with funding from Embassy of the Netherlands in Uganda in collaboration with Wageningen University & Research.
