With the aim of preventing and reducing violence, we educate young people using our tested and proven peace educational program with increases knowledge on how to solve conflicts peaceful and empowers youth as change agents/peace builders through advocacy, sports, music and entrepreneurship. We collaborate with schools to set up Peace clubs and train teachers/sport coaches as mentors. We place nonviolence boxes in schools to enable open communication about incidences and violence and strengthen systems to address violence related cases.
Skills Empowerment
Uganda’s youth unemployment stands at 83%, this is mostly because of the mismatch in skills and the existing opportunities in the economy. Unemployment is one of accelerates of violence and crime due to idleness, frustration and depression. We continue to empower youth and women with hands-on vocational skills that enable them create their own jobs and enhance their employability. Some of the skills we currently offer include Tailoring and fashion design, art and hand crafts, hair dressing and beauty, cookery and bakery, agriculture, computer skills and various product making skills integrated with comprehensive entrepreneurship training.
Education
Education is one of strongest tools against violence and poverty, many children in Uganda’s Slums lack the opportunity to access quality education and this is why we established Great Hope Junior School with an aim of educating over 500 children by 2020. We have collaborated with friends, development partners and the local community to build a 4 class block and looking forward to more growth and investment in the future leaders.
