Youth Resource Centre is a social initiative committed to increasing access to information, mentoring, skills building and networking opportunities to inspire and unlock the potential of young people as change makers. The centre offers free library/information services, career guidance & counseling, computer skills training, school outreaches, entrepreneurship & leadership education plus youth fun

activities. The centre is registered as a community based organization and welcomes collaboration from likeminded organizations and individuals to get involved. Uganda is one of the countries that have been worst hit by all forms of human tragedies and being the second youngest country in the world, the young population is in a critical stage of decision making and forming character, Youth therefore need the access to the right information, mentoring and skills to achieve their goals and become responsible citizens and this is simply why we exist. Young people are faced with unemployment, drug abuse, HIV/AIDS, teenage pregnancies, youth violence, and negative peer pressure among others. Products

WHAT WE DO:
We use an empowering approach to unlock the potential of young people. We believe in teaching a man to fish rather than giving him fish, because he will come back the next day.
We also believe that real change begins from within a person and his mindset and then flows outward to the community.

Library services
We have over 2000 books at our resource centre so Young people can drop in to read books and resource materials about all aspects of life, be it Health issues, business/entrepreneurship, novels, cultural, spiritual or academics. The service is free of charge.
Information is pertinent in decision making and shaping attitudes of young people and at the same time helps to widen the thinking plus improving the reading culture of our local youth.

School Outreaches.
Schools comprise of 80% of the young population, we reach out to schools and universities to interact and engage youth on issued that concern and affect them. Our sessions are educative and exciting. We mainly focus on career guidance, sexual reproductive health, life skills, motivational talks, youth violence and entrepreneurship.
Through our BLACK BOX students drop in all the questions and challenges they encounter we them provide a platform for dialogue and answering their questions.
We also hold events that give students an opportunity to uplift their talents like debates, sports and music events.

Skills development
Youth require both life and technical skills in the competitive era. We conduct life skills workshop at our centre, these include communication, presentation, employability, how to build your self esteem, networking, time management, leadership skills etc.
Computer skills training, we as well equip the young people from the communities around with computer skills which are a necessity in today’s world. The packages include introduction to computer, typing, Microsoft excel, Microsoft word, PowerPoint, adobe internet and social media.

Educational Programs
We offer a value based leadership development program, entrepreneurship training and Youth Violence Prevention.
Entrepreneurship development course equips participants with business skills and knowledge on how to identify business opportunities, business planning, product development, marketing, finance management and business ethics.
Youth Violence Prevention: this often ignored problem which cost our society millions of dollars annually in destroyed property and treatment of victims. We teach our young people how to solve conflicts peaceful through a well balanced educational program that covers areas of communication, how to build self esteem, understanding violence and conflict resolution.
In the leadership development course every one is a leader and we equip participants with leadership skills and challenge them with real life situation to lead teams to volunteer in community. This program is paramount in shaping our future leaders.

ChangeMakers Club
This is membership network of young people [gifted in different talents and professions] with the objective of unlocking their potential through building an association for information sharing, team work, exchange ideas and positive action to transform their lives and communities. Members meet monthly at Vision dinner and also undertake joint business and social enterprises on top of volunteer activities.
