A meal doesn’t just fill a stomach—it creates peace of mind. Peace of mind makes room for learning, creativity, and opportunity.

Just like our leather program we shared about the other day, our sewing program works in a similar way when it comes to meals. The class is taught by Sylvia, a talented seamstress who runs a shop on Main Street. Students come to learn how to design, cut patterns, and sew clothing so they can one day start their own sewing businesses.

While they learn these skills, we provide meals to them. For someone trying to build a future while carrying the weight of providing for a family, knowing that today’s meal is taken care of brings tremendous peace.

We’re inviting friends like you to help us reach our $55,000 goal to provide meals and snacks for everyone in our programs.

Your gift helps ensure that the women in these programs don’t have to choose between learning a skill to improve their future and feeding themselves that day.

For the women in our artisan programs, a meal is more than nourishment—it’s the freedom to focus on building a livelihood. Your generosity makes that possible.🤎🍛

There are SEVEN DAYS LEFT to reach our goal of raising $55,000 to provide nutritious meals and snacks for the children, preschool students, staff, and artisans who are part of our programs each day for the WHOLE YEAR!

Today, I want to share a little about the women in our artisan programs, and why something as simple as a meal can make such a meaningful difference.

Every day, women walk through our doors carrying enormous responsibility.

Many are mothers. Some are grandmothers. Several are widows who suddenly became the sole providers for their families. Between their children and grandchildren, some of these women are responsible for feeding six, eight, even ten or more people.

In our leather artisan program, a group of widows has been trained to craft beautiful, high-quality leather goods. These women are incredibly hardworking. The income they earn goes directly toward supporting the families who depend on them.

But before they can focus on their craft, there is a very basic need that must be met: food.

At Heal, their meals are provided. That might sound small, but it’s incredibly important.

Instead of worrying about how they will pay for their next meal that day, they can invest what they earn into school fees, food for their children at home, and the future of their families.

Provide nourishment and hope today! 🤎 comment MEAL for a link to donate

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

There wasn’t much to eat at home, so Witney was coming to school hungry. She couldn’t focus, and her energy was zapped. She kept falling asleep in class.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to learn, but she was too hungry to participate.

As the weeks went on, we noticed a change. We provide breakfast, lunch and two snacks to our preschoolers. As Witney consistently filled her belly with nourishing food, we noticed her start to perk up.

Suddenly, instead of sleeping in class, she was raising her hand to answer questions.

She was running and playing outside with friends. She was thriving.

That’s what a meal does. When you give to the spring campaign, you’re not just filling a belly—you’re breaking down obstacles to learning and success. You’re giving hope and opportunity to vulnerable children who desperately need it.

We have a couple of weeks left in our Spring campaign to raise $55,000 to cover all food expenses at the James Place. So far, we’ve raised $20,746.

Will you help us change the lives of our preschool students?

At the James Place, every child receives two meals and two snacks each day. Adults receive lunch and a snack. Plates are filled. Water is poured. Laughter carries across the courtyard.

It may look simple. But for many families, this daily consistency is life-changing.

When a child knows they will eat today and tomorrow, they can focus in school.
When a parent doesn’t have to scramble for food, they can work with dignity.
When meals are dependable, fear begins to loosen its grip.

This is what your generosity makes possible.

We are making strong progress toward our $55,000 goal, but we’re not there yet.

Will you help us keep the tables full all year long? 🍛🤎

Help Us Fund 70,000 Meals! 🍛

This spring, we are raising $55,000 to fund a full year of food at James Place — providing more than 70,000 meals for children, families, and staff in Uganda.

Every weekday morning, something steady and dependable happens.

Children arrive in their uniforms.
Mothers greet one another.
Staff begin preparing meals.

And before long, more than 210 people will sit down to eat.

Not because it is a special occasion, but because consistency changes lives.

Help us provide enough meals for a full year! Donate now at the 🔗 in our bio! 🤎

This spring, we are launching a campaign to fund food for our programs at the James Place. We have a goal of raising $55,000, which will provide over 70,000 meals to vulnerable families in Uganda. As we launch our campaign, Patrick’s story reminds us that food is more than nourishment.

When we first met Patrick in 2022, he lived on the margins of his community, outcast and overlooked because of a problem with his leg. He lived next door to the land where Heal would eventually build the permanent James Place in Budondo, but at the time, he was simply trying to survive.

When we purchased the property, we hired Patrick to help clear the land, and we began training him in farming. In those early days, at lunch, Patrick would quietly fill his plate with double portions of food.

Not because he was greedy, but because he didn’t have food at home. He had never been able to count on three meals a day. If food was available, he made sure he had enough… just in case tomorrow there was none.

That is what survival mode looks like.

But as time passed and Patrick earned a consistent income through his work at Heal, something changed. He began filling his plate with a normal portion.

He no longer had to wonder if he would eat tomorrow.
He was no longer bracing for scarcity.

Today, Patrick is married with a beautiful baby girl. He is deeply loved at the James Place, and his job has given him dignity in the community.
When you give, you help ensure that children, staff, and families at the James Place don’t have to live wondering if their most basic needs will be met. You help build stability that changes futures.

Will you join us this spring? 🤎🌾
