Hope african woman uganda

Hope african woman uganda Who we are Hope for African Woman-Uganda is an organization of Women in Jinja District. It was started to address issues of gender based domestic viol

It was legally registered by Jinja District community Development office and started operation in 2012. Young mothers in general and young single mothers with disabilities are subject to discrimination. They are not only discriminated against because of their gender but they are often the last to receive help in areas such as education or general health care: services which are necessary to enable

them live a productive life outside poverty. In Uganda, the multiple discrimination of women is prominent in every walk of life. Only 28 percent of Uganda single women are educated especially the young girls. Parents of the disabled girls often keep them at home because they consider education to be a waste of time or because they are afraid of men taking advantage of their children by defiling or ra**ng them, which would cause unwanted pregnancies and a burden to their parents. Of all the young mothers/women in Uganda, 80 percent do not have an independent means of livelihood and so live in extreme poverty. To overcome poverty, the young single women develop relationships with more than one man who exposes them to HIV/AIDS and other related reproductive health problems. Because of their ignorance about s*x education and reproductive health issues and the disgrace of marrying a young girl, most young women are single parents with many children. The disabled young girls who are more than the disabled young boys-are always hidden by their parents from the community, they grow up in extreme isolation and invisibility, they have no access to information and are usually unaware of their rights. This project contributes to inclusive development respecting the full human rights of every person, acknowledging diversity, eradicating poverty and ensuring that all people are fully included and can actively participate in the development process and activities, regardless of age, gender, disability, and state of health, ethnic origin or any other characteristic.
