Here are some images of a Sick Bay that HYT has recently finished constructing in Bwesumbu Primary School, Western Uganda. 🧱

This project enabled HYT managers to train 4 young men and women, and provided Bwesumbu school with a safe, hygienic sanitarium building. 🩺

We are so grateful for the partnership between and which allowed this to take place!

For World Water Day 2026, UNESCO is spotlighting the impact of water on gender equality.

In support of this, HYT wanted to investigate the impact of our rainwater storage tanks, and training young women to build and maintain them, on the safety, role and status of women and girls.

With UN World Water Day falling at the end of this week, HYT joins the international community in celebrating the global efforts to make clean water universally accessible. It is with great pride that we also reflect on our contribution to furthering this cause over the past 20 years.

HYT has constructed around 200 permanent rainwater harvesting tanks - that’s nearly 3.5 million litres of safe, clean water provided to people all across Uganda.

Today we are celebrating our achievements, but we know there is much more to be done. Where water flows, equality grows – so here’s to a future where equality remains a priority in international development efforts.

It is 20 years since HYT started its remarkable work in Uganda!

Using an innovative climate-friendly approach to training and building, HYT has trained hundreds of young Ugandans and refugees, building hundreds of water tanks, homes and school buildings to improve the lives of tens of thousands of those facing the world's most challenging circumstances.

We are proud of what HYT has achieved so far, but know there is so much to do.

Last week, the office staff visited the team who’ve been busy building latrines in Bidibidi Refugee Settlement, northern Uganda.

And it was the first time some of us had seen eachother in a year!

Accordingly - these months of hard work were capped off with a lot of laughter, and even more dancing 🕺.
