Proud Basoga Foundation

Proud Basoga Foundation Our objective is to promote Busoga tribe as a Culture,Lusoga as a Languange and help in unifying. Why Proud Basoga Foundation?

A string of calamities and stereotypes is all that the media and other regions/tribes report about the Basoga. In a land so beautiful and immensely blessed, is it possible for its inhabitants to live a wretched life of pain caused by jigger infestations, poverty caused by laziness and distrust and belittlement caused by an age old stereotype of Basoga people being too stubborn and ridged? The miss

ion of Proud Busoga Foundation is to promote Busoga as a tribe, culture, and Lusoga as a language among fellow and non-Basoga.

A historic milestone for Uganda’s cultural heritage! 🇺🇬

Makerere University is set to launch the teaching of Lusoga at its Main Hall ahead of Mother Tongue Day, with the Kyabazinga of Busoga, His Royal Highness William Gabriel Nadiope Gabula IV, gracing the occasion as Chief Guest.

This landmark initiative elevates Lusoga’s academic status and strengthens the promotion of indigenous languages in Uganda.

A Tribute to Bishop Cyprian Kikuni Bamwoze — Six Years of Enduring Legacy (11 February 2019 – 11 February 2025)

We pause in reverence and gratitude as we mark six years since Bishop Cyprian Kikuni Bamwoze breathed his last — a towering servant of God, the first Bishop of Busoga Diocese, and a man whose energy, courage, and conviction left footprints that time cannot erase.
Bishop Bamwoze was not merely an administrator of a diocese — he was a builder of vision, a disturber of complacency, and a prophetic voice in both Church and society. He carried within him an unusual fire: a rare blend of spiritual authority, intellectual depth, developmental passion, and fearless honesty. He did not decorate truth — he declared it. He did not massage reality — he confronted it.
His courage and firmness of character defined his ministry. He believed leadership was not about pleasing crowds but about shaping destiny. Many misunderstood him; some resisted him; a few even opposed him — yet history continues to vindicate him. He refused hypocrisy and rejected comfortable silence. He called a spade a spade — plainly, directly, and without apology.
As we approach the remembrance of Archbishop Janani Luwum’s martyrdom, we are reminded that Bishop Bamwoze stood among those who dared to speak truth to power in dangerous times. His courage was not theoretical — it was lived. After the brutal murder of Archbishop Luwum, when fear had gripped many hearts, Bishop Bamwoze found the moral strength to conduct a service at Namirembe before the body was transported onward. That act alone speaks volumes: faith over fear, conviction over convenience, duty over danger.
He understood something that remains profoundly relevant today — that Busoga needed a multisectoral approach to development. He saw the Church not only as a spiritual refuge but as a developmental engine. Education, institutional strength, discipline, personal grooming, principled work, and social transformation were not side notes in his theology — they were central to it.
His heart beat strongly for institutions:
He longed to see Busoga University stand firm and flourish.
He desired to see Busoga College Mwiri regain its national academic and leadership excellence.
He believed in structured progress, disciplined leadership, and long-term planning.
It is poignant that he departed before seeing some of these dreams restored — yet perhaps that is the nature of true pioneers: they plant trees whose shade they may never sit under.
Six years later, his message still confronts us: Development requires courage.
Integrity attracts resistance.
Truth demands a backbone.
Leadership requires sacrifice.
His legacy is not meant for admiration alone — it is meant for imitation.
If we are to honor Bishop Bamwoze meaningfully, we must:
Choose principle over popularity
Speak truth with courage and grace
Build institutions, not personalities
Pursue development with moral discipline
Serve without hypocrisy
Lead with spiritual and intellectual seriousness
May his life continue to provoke Busoga — and the Church at large — toward bold thinking, honest leadership, and transformational action.
May the memory of Bishop Cyprian Kikuni Bamwoze remain a torch — not only lighting our past, but igniting our future.
Rest well, faithful shepherd. Your voice still speaks. Your work still calls. Your legacy still leads.
