Acts 18: 24-26NIV
[24] Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures.
[25] He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John. [26] He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.
A ride through the book of Acts
(Accurate yet not adequate)
Are you tempted to feel contented with what you have so far learned simply bse you can do some accurate preaching, Evangelism or teaching the word of God? It's time you take a step back and think again bse, being accurate in the little is never a substitute for adequacy in the knowledge of God.
Apollos, even though well learned, with thorough accurate knowledge of Scripture, and well instructed however where he had was not yet enough, it was not adequate to make him an authority in Scripture and Christian values.
For this reason, Apollos however accurate he was in Scripture, he still needed more mentorship from those who had more knowledge than him!!
Fortunately, unlike many in today's Church generation, Apollos humbly accepted to receive further instructions and ministry guidance from Elder Priscilla and her husband Aquilla.
This made him not only more accurate in Scripture and evangelism but also loaded with enough knowledge and understanding of Scripture to enable him stand against any opposing forces against the Gospel and name of Christ!
Brethren, if we want to grow to the stature God wants us to reach in maturity of Scripture and Christian life and values, let us always hold this attitude and attribute that there may be something I may not yet know fully or even at all and we should crave to be added on always.
Never be tempted to think that you have it all now possibly even better than your elders/mentors in Christ and Christian life!
For even when he could no longer raise his hands and keep them up by himself, Moses was still very vital in securing victories for Israel by the hand of God through Joshua.
Be blessed.
