ANOTHER BLESSED WEEKEND WITH THE CHILDREN🙏❤️

Thanks to the Euro Clear Team Germany, we were able to feed the children again this weekend. The children enjoyed a balanced meal of Rice, Beans and Gnut Paste.

The children were so patient as they waited to be served, and as always, every child comes to say "Thank you Coach." But I always tell them the real heroes are behind the camera, not me. And that it's always important to be grateful.

We also had a heart-to-heart talk as a team. We talked about the constant fights over space and the bitter words exchanged amongst themselves. I reminded them this is not good and can lead to a dangerous route. We prayed for so many days to have food like this, so this space should not be for misbehaving. As a team, they should work together and help each other out of the dangers of the street.

We continue to call upon your support, because there are still many days ahead. We can only be grateful for your sacrifices that make us stand taller.

Do you remember the joy of wearing new clothes on Christmas? That feeling of "I belong, I am loved, I am clean"?

Street children in Mbale have forgotten that feeling.

Every day they wear the same torn clothes. Clothes that itch. Clothes that make people push them away. Clothes that tell the world "I have no one."

But a child is still a child.

Underneath that dirty shirt is a little girl who still wants to feel beautiful.
Underneath that torn trouser is a little boy who still wants to stand tall among his friends.

This Christmas, Heart of the Lioness wants to give 100 street children something we all take for granted the dignity of clean, warm clothes.

Not out of pity. Out of love.

Because when a child wears clean clothes:
They walk with confidence
They are welcomed, not chased away
They feel human again
They remember they are still children, worthy of love

You have that power in your wardrobe.

That dress you wore once. That shirt your son outgrew. That sweater you don't need.

To you, it's extra. To them, it's belonging.

Give with love this Christmas. Not because they are poor, but because they are precious.

🎅 NO CHILD SHOULD SPEND CHRISTMAS ON THE STREET 🎅

While we are planning what to eat and wear with family this Christmas, over 65 plus beautiful souls downtown will be wondering if they will eat at all.

This December, we at Heart of the Lioness want to host a modest CHRISTMAS PARTY for Street Children.

Our theme this year is so close to our heart: FAMILY REINTEGRATION.
We want to feed them, clothe them, celebrate with them, and for those who are ready, *take them BACK HOME to their families for Christmas.

WE NEED YOU.

Every weekend, the Heart of the Lioness family meets the children downtown in the market. It's not just about food. We sit together, on the ground, like family. We talk about life.

This week we talked about personal hygiene how to bathe, how to wash our small clothes, how to keep our bodies clean. The children listened, they laughed, they asked questions.

But my heart was heavy.

Because the truth is, where will they bathe from? We have no proper place with a toilet. No enough tap water for them to wash their clothes, to have a proper bath.

It is our biggest challenge now.

Especially for our sick ones. How do you tell a child to swallow medicine on an empty stomach? Where does she get something to eat first? How do you apply healing cream on a body that hasn't been bathed because there is no water?

We have a small temporary corner where we keep their medication, but even that place we are not sure how long we will have it.

We also talked about language. You know, sometimes our street children speak like old men who have lived on this earth for a hundred years. Hard words, bitter words. It's not their fault. The street taught them. We are gently reminding them you are still children. You are allowed to be soft. You are allowed to speak with kindness.

And in the middle of all this, there was joy. Because there was food.

We want to say a very special thank you to Mr. Mo.

That one hot meal does more than fill a stomach. It brings them closer. When they eat, they open up. They trust us. They let us lead them, guide them, counsel them. That meal is a bridge back to childhood.

Yesterday, they ate. They smiled. They listened. They felt loved.

Today's meal on the streets was special. It was not just about filling empty stomachs.

We organized it specifically to sit with the children and talk about their relationship and behaviour in the community and how to do better.

We talked about respect, how to relate with people in the markets, in the communities where they sleep, and with each other. How to avoid fights, how to respond when they are abused or chased, and how to show that they can also be disciplined and responsible.

These children are often judged before they are heard. But when you sit with them, you realize they listen, they want to change, they want to belong.

Food brought us together, but the conversation gave them hope and direction.

Thank you to everyone who made today's meal possible. You fed their bodies and also fed their minds.

Today Emma, one of our boys, was diagnosed with scabies.

For a long time he has been scratching himself non-stop. It started small but kept spreading, almost reaching his private parts. He kept quiet, thinking "it will get better one day" but it only got worse.

Emma's condition needs constant bathing and clean clothes, but he has stayed long without bathing, sleeping on the streets, no clean water, no soap. That is how scabies found him.

This is just one of the many challenges we are facing daily. We dream of having our OWN SPACE where we can gather the children, bathe them, wash their clothes, and teach personal hygiene with dignity. But we cannot do it alone.

We thank Euro Clear for the support that is helping us give these children their dignity back. Because of you, Emma is now getting treatment.

He doesn't have to suffer in silence anymore. 🙏

BRIAN NEEDED HELP, BUT FEAR KEPT HIM SILENT 💔

On Sunday, Brian, one of our street boys, slipped and fell on his hand. He got a bad sprain. Since then he has been in pain up to today with no help.

He was scared to go to the hospital. Not because of the pain, but because of how he looks. Society already has a negative mind about street children they would think he was involved in group fights and refuse to treat him.

Today we finally took him to the hospital.

We want to say a big THANK YOU to Euro Clear for contributing to his hospital treatment. Because of you, Brian got the care he needed without being judged.

Street children are children too. They get hurt, they get scared, they need love.

HUSEIN JUST WANTED TO BE CALLED A CHILD AT HOME

On Sunday before the other children even arrived at the venue, Husein was already there.

He was among the very first to reach us. But something was wrong. The other children started shouting, "Coach, he is sick!"

I turned and saw him. His face was pale, he looked lost and in pain. He was holding his stomach, complaining of a terrible stomach ache, vomiting and running stomach. He couldn't even explain himself well. He was just feeling terribly bad.

We asked him, "Husein, can you try to have some lunch first so we get some strength before we go to the hospital?" He accepted, but he isolated himself. You could see the pain in his eyes. We made sure he was among the first children to receive food and water, and then we rushed him to the hospital.

Later, when we had our life talk, Husein opened up to me.

He told me his mother left his father and got married somewhere else and disappeared. She left him with his father. His father later got another woman, and that woman and her children did not want him at home, especially when his father left for work in Kampala. His father was told that Husein had become an impossible child who would spoil the other children. That's how he ended up on the street.

He told me he tried to look for his mother but failed.

Then he looked at me and said something I will never forget. He said, "I just want to be loved. I want to be called a child in a home and have someone cook for me. But life is difficult on the streets."

I told him, Husein, we do care. We will do what we can to help you.

At the hospital, we did laboratory tests. Thank God he had no malaria and no typhoid. The doctor said it was food poisoning. He was given treatment and medicine. We will continue to follow up on him until he is fully okay.

Thank you so much to Euroclear for covering his hospital bills and for standing with us to give children like Husein a chance to feel loved again.

This Sunday was special. We shared lunch with over 65 amazing children talking about life, sharing hope, and enjoying a healthy meal together.

Thank you Euroclear for powering our weekend feeding. Sunday lunch was massive and the kids loved every bit of it!
